How to Engrave Stainless Steel Tumbler with CitriStrip

Tumblers are always a fan-favorite when it comes to crafting with vinyl. Today, we have a new twist on powder-coated tumblers where you can etch away the coating to reveal the beautiful stainless steel underneath!
In this video tutorial, join us as we introduce you to an easy etching project with your Cricut cutting machine. We will cover how to import your SVG file into Cricut Design Space, how to create your own stencil and size your design, how to cut and weed your vinyl, how to apply your stencil to your project, how to etch with CitriStrip, and finally a project reveal. Once you’ve etched one tumbler, you’ll be so excited to add this technique to your crafting arsenal!

Wow! So happy to see you once again. I missed you. I’ve subbed and 👍🏼 and looking forward to more from you.. I too had great success using an ozark coffee mug from the camping area. I did use a heat gun to warm my vinyl and used a felt edge squeegee to really set the vinyl edges. Felt tip squeegee are the bomb! A must have for all vinyl projects.

I have seen a couple of others use a "Magic Eraser" as it is non-abrasive and they had good results without scraping or marking the stainless.

Great question! And yes, for this method to work, it strips the powder-coating off to reveal the stainless underneath. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Can you use a stainless yeti that has no color just the original stainless steel

No. It has to have a color so that it can strip away paint from the stainless steel.

Mine didn't work too well, Left it for 60 mins, then 60 more, it was very hard, some areas didn't work at all, the gel left mark in many places even when my whole (Tal bottle) bottle was covered w tape.
