Having those previous videos leading up to this def helped getting more exposure. Seems like a video series gets more eyeballs than just one or maybe two videos. Great trailer by the way!!

Thanks mate! Yeah I think if I make another one later I’d probably plan out more other videos than the trailer. The trailer is the hero video but a lot of eyeballs as you say get exposed to it by doing more of regular helpful content that pushes it as well. That’s probably something I’d double down more on if I did it again.

Super quality information for us all as usual, I think a deeper delve into the bureaucratic side of the film world would be a very very good thing for us viewers as that's the side of film making you usually can't study without someone pointing out the direction. Meaning bureaucratic as in a longer and more deep going edit about pitching to sponsors, getting to know the film Festival where to find them and to get your films pitched to them and so on. As someone who binge watch your whole channel and someone who love the academy/mentor idea I still feel that that's the hardest things to research on your own.

Great suggestions! Been thinking of how to make it in the best way. Think it will come naturally as we progress with the project, we're trying to capture all the steps on the way and all that is then mixed up with having to go and shoot some more etc. Great to get some feedback on the whole mentor idea as well!

Hi Jonny! Please, can you also share with us the sound levels (in db) you use for each sound layer (voices, music, ambient, sfx, etc)? Specially for documentary. Thanks for share.

Hey mate! I have them in a template on learndocumentary.com (free download) but generally I want to be between -6 to -10 for dialogue and music -20 when speech is involved but -10 otherwise. For SFX and ATMO it's often a bit of feel. But generally around -10 for SFX and -20 for atmo

If you removed the need to travel- say, you were to shoot a film about someone near your home in Sweden- would that cut the production time? How much of your production time has been between trips versus actually, say, filming in the day time and editing at night?
@Jonnyvonwallstrom

It could but often it takes the time it takes because that's just the nature of capturing a story. But I'm doing a film that's based in my home town and in Stockholm now and that's so far taken four years because it's a difficult film to make practically. So for me it hasn't been the case :D

Hey man great vid! I've been having an issue with not being able to put transition or effects on clips in resolve. I'm using the free version and was wondering if that has anything to do with it?
@Jonnyvonwallstrom
@Jonnyvonwallstrom 5 жыл бұрын
Hmm I don’t use any transitions outside cross dissolve for audio and that worked when I used the free version. But effects, I know grain doesn’t work. So that would make sense if there’s other ones not working
@evanoldknow
@evanoldknow 5 жыл бұрын
@@Jonnyvonwallstrom thanks! The funny thing is even the cross dissolve with the audio is not consistently. It works on some but not all even if the file is long enough for the transition. I've tried googling a solution but I've had no luck. Thanks for answering my previous question btw.
@Jonnyvonwallstrom
@Jonnyvonwallstrom 5 жыл бұрын
have you tried clicking the transition then changing the type of fade to +3db?
@evanoldknow
@evanoldknow 5 жыл бұрын
@@Jonnyvonwallstrom I'll try that! Never really adjusted the fade into the positive before usually just into the negative which wasn't consistent but I'll see if this works. Thank you!🙏
