Great video. I think reinvesting into the channel is a fun place to be. I think it’s wise at many stages of the YT journey. Also.. it is cool that you can have a job, do other things, and still have a successful channel. For example sometimes I need to think about a video for a week or 2 or more, on and off, before making it. Sometimes those thinking moments happening when I’m working on other stuff. This is why I think anyone can have a channel. Ramble done.

Absolutely love the freedom of making KZfaq videos. Agree, everyone can and should make videos - thanks Blaine!

Balance! I enjoy YT as an expression, passion, experience not necessarily a fully time job.

Balance & freedom. People seem to forget that and fall for the trap of chasing money through social media. Great input, Keith. Thank you. 👌

Thank you! The balance of working with a team, then having an outlet you can do whatever you want has been really nice. I'm not against making money on social media, but I think for creators specifically - it can kill your creativity if you let it

@@keith-knittel I agree with you in everything. In my opinion, having an outlet mainly for creativity just saves me a ton of stress of not meeting someone else's deadlines and expectations, but my own. Loved your video. - Wilfredo

People often fantasize what they see on social media without understanding the reality. I find this when I speak with clients or beginner filmmakers. You have to have realistic expectations.

I think so too. For me, collaborating with a team on projects is still the way I want work right now. Everyone works differently, but having realistic expectations is important

Great video, I’ll admit I want to go FT with this, but I actually can’t. I like the balance I have. My real life, family, job, etc and then creating videos. For me I only create content, when I have something I’m building. As a woodworker, it’s a small niche to start with and clients don’t show up everyday. Their few so having the balance of life, making something and then editing video of what I made is what is best for me. For now. We will see where it goes. Glad you made this video, reminded me that it’s ok to be part time on this. Best of luck for 2024. See you around.

I love being here on youtube, but don't know that I could give up being on set. Being full-time freelance, I can say, doing youtube and freelance seems like I am working wake to sleep. If you love what you're doing, that makes youtube content even more enjoyable with less stress of relying on it to pay the bills. Great video.

This is a great video and its made me think that going FT on YT is for some and not for others. It may not be for me, however, thanks for creating this, Keith. It's a good reminder!!

Because I niche down in my channel, I couldn't do or create what I want it, I trapped myself. Now I am stoked. Now I am going to quit that and go free in the content that I want to make because I have so many interests in my life. The scene of youtube is that, share your interests. Your video gave me the reasurance that I was looking for. By the way my channel is Rultube, it is in Spanish heheheh

This is an interesting question, for many of us that are half way between freelancing with client work and trying to put some time on YT (regardless the reason why we still want to work on our channels) is a tricky decision. If we create for YT you have the 'freedom' to create for yourself and your audience without pressure, especially if your channel is not big yet. However, if we try to go full time the perspective changes completely as like you said the 'freedom' to create is under the pressure of doing it in order to achieve and match your financial goals, more than any other creative reasons.

Yeah, it's a tricky situation. I love experimenting with new content on my own, but creating larger projects with a team. This is kind of the best of both worlds for me right now

You have to really be crushing it on KZfaq to be “making it” which becomes an entire lifestyle, not just a 9-5 that you can forget about at home or on the weekend. Passive income is great for some, but it can definitely come with a price. I think there is a happy medium when you make content at your preferred pace rather than from pressure.

Agree. Making it means different things to different people. Depending on your lifestyle, the amount of money you need is different as well. I'm happy making videos and keeping my main job. This channel allows me to learn more on my own, meet new people, and make some videos that I'm passionate about, without feeling the pressure of making enough money to pay my mortgage
