My mother passed away almost 5 years ago... I still listen to this song in hopes of connecting with her somehow... Fortunately it works for the most of days... Being able to sing my love and admiration for her even though she's not here anymore still keeps me on the right path, I'm grateful for every single second of this song, it makes me believe that's she is still watching over me and helps me to believe that I still belong here.

This song makes me think about my grandmother who has been beside me since the day I was born.

I was 19 years old when the original of this deeply touching song by Charles Aznavour was a hit back in 1974 and it holds personal memories for me and for over 44 years, long-held dear, so I was delighted to hear it again when it was covered here by Elvis Costello. Now after all these years and being an old buzzard I prefer the original but Costello does this timeless classic justice, in the year of 2018 when Charles died. Thank you for the memories!
