Dad introduced me to rocky when I was a kid. Rocky and dad were both my heroes. That's what makes this movie so incredibly hard. Dad got lymphoma. I watched him go through all of that. It's so close to reality in this scene. He didn't make it. Here I am. At the gym. Watching this scene, crying my eyes out. I've just decided I've got three more sets.

the bell was an homage to the original Rocky training sequences. They always started with that. What was genius was how Coogler completely made this his own, yet still threaded a connection to the original--especially at the end when MBJ is outrunning the cyclers, then circles with his arms in the air at the end. Fantastic filmmaking.

This scene made me cry like a little girl, I was overweight and lived with my only parent who was terminally ill and was fighting cancer and was being drained from chemo while I was getting in shape for my ship date to Fort Sill Oklahoma for basic training. It was so hard to manage both things, the experience seen here reminds me of myself. This scene captures the sadness, stress and effects of chemo in a scary accurate way. My father drank those exact same drinks that Rocky had at 1:48, they were bitter and tasted like Pepto-Bismol but boosted his immune system. Overcoming obstacles is so hard when you watch your best friend and father failing to overcome his obstacles. This is a movie I'll never forget in my entire life. Creed and Rocky were able to overcome their obstacles like me and my father had.

I remember when this movie came out. I saw it with my homeboy, and I was trapped in a toxic relationship with my ex fiancé. I had given up an opportunity to be a starting qb at my school and transfer to her school in West Virginia. I gained 50 ibs, and was in the worst mental state of my life. Come to find out later, she was cheating on me with her boss, and threw me out of my apartment. I was homeless for 2 weeks, slept in my car, and nothing left in me. Then, I watched this movie again and it helped pull me out of a horrible hole I dug myself in by getting on the school I transfer to’s football team . I downloaded this movie’s soundtrack and listened to this scene everyday. I fought and worked harder than I ever did, lost those 50ibs I gained, and now I’m an arena football qb. My message to everyone out there, it’s that there’s always some type of dawg in all of us. And when we go through the struggling times it’s the underdogs and the people who refuse to falter or give up that inspire us to achieve greatness. I thank god that this movie came out because it’s one of the biggest reasons why my life turned around💯

This was how you knew Creed was gonna win. He had Rocky's old fire, he had his Dad's technical perfection, and he wasn't giving up, even if you set his feet on fire, he'd still jog the miles. He had a legend in his corner and he wasn't giving up. I fucking love this movie.

The beauty of this movie was that Ryan Coogler loved ROCKY, and in every scene he masterfully tied the old to the new with every shot. I absolutely thought this movie was a bad idea, and i absolutely watch it over and over. Every performance on point. Great work Michael B. Jordan!! How this movie won no Oscars baffles me
@redhawk03295 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't. Award academies or groups still have an iron steel old guard. Even though the golden globes is slightly more up with the times, the Oscar's still has the overwhelming sophistication aspect for theater. That's why most movies that you've never heard of are nominated or win. They would never in a million years go parade out their best picture of the year is Creed. Hopefully in 20 30 years that will change when some of those old bastards dies off.
@Urmomsaredpanda5 жыл бұрын
It's a damn shame Michael should've atleast been nominated, Stallone probably should've won for supporting and I forgot who scored it I think it was Ludweig garrison but regardless the score should've been nominated

There were so many parallels with Rocky's younger life & struggles, all intertwined so beautifully with Creed's plot. Take this training montage alone; remember how Adrian had fallen ill from working at the pet shop and was near dying at childbirth in Rocky II? The way Rocky had given up on fighting without her by his side? And then when she gives birth to Robert, she encourages him to 'Win' -- cue the 'Going The Distance' track with its Bell intro and we have Rocky back at the gym. Here there's Rocky sick and suddenly, he's motivated Creed to get training right away -- you'll notice the Bell from 'Going The Distance' sound at just the same instance. Then training at the gym -- before ending with a run. Similar to how Rocky kissed Rocky Jr. in the crib in Rocky II, set into a run through Philly, calling children on the street to run alongside him to the steps. Here's Creed calling Bikers to ride alongside him. They finish with the bikers/children circling them and the training montage ends. What a brilliant film; watched it thrice already.

Easily my favorite scene of the entire movie. So much heart, so much humanity, so tough and so tender at the same time. It feels so real you forget it’s a movie and they are just acting. The way Adonis continues to rep the ‘hood and yet fit so well into Rocky’s life is amazing. A little bit street and a little bit smooth-the perfect blend. Ryan Coogler is an EXCELlENT director.
