The ERFs and the DAFs carry the same engines (cummins) with similar bodies...its the FODENS that were difficult to convert to LHD..so we didnt buy them...they also had catapillar engines and a few with cummins... Wish I could help by buying the whole lot... but the market for old british reliable trucks is just not there anymore...the pounds is just too strong making them more expensive than a new chinese truck which will give better return on investment.

I can see a few trucks that still have a second life .... perhaps you visited on a sunday ...but trust me they are not abandoned, the owner of the farm invested a lot in what you are looking at.....I cry when I see no one to continue the business if that has happened to this site....

The exchange rate to the pounds has made these old reliable trucks too expensive, the daf 50s did not have enough power, the Mercs..ategos with the V8 engines would still fetch a few pounds, also ex army LHD tippers...Most will end in the breakers yard ..what a shame...gone are the days I would have bought a few trucks and loaded them in a curtainsider for export...Now the chinese truck are doing what the British old reliable trucks used to do....

The CF dafs were a complete crap too much electronics ... The old man who owns the site must have passed away, with his children less intrested in the scrap yard...An old friend of the owner still alive would probably help dispose of the trucks for what ever value he can get...We used to buy the old reliable dafs and ship them off to africa, but when they started introducing electronics for fuel efficency they became a problem for the african mechanics who had no computers and electronic pads etc etc...Some of the old stuff like the manual 4x4 will still sell but not enough to warrant a visit.

Sorry for the missed spelling, I owned three Dafs and one Leyland road train . Two of the Dafs were great , one was a the biggest mistake I ever made! Over the 4 years I owned it if I listed the faults that I encountered I would probably probably get sued . The costs in the four years was astronomical , the clutch failed in the first year , two compressors , the air pressure control valve kept coking up even after oil changes . When this happens the air pressure drops slowly then suddenly drops through the floor.total loss of brakes!!!! Tyres wearing out on the second steer axle almost as fast as I could buy them . Injector pipes snapping of after 4K miles . The crank shaft broke at the middle main bearing necessitating a new engine . The last straw! Let the finance company repo it and acquired a Leyland Roadtrain and ran it for about 3 yrs total repair bill £2000 most of which was a rebuild kit for its reliable and bullet proof E 14 big cam Cummins . Paid 3k for it and sold it for 2.4 k . I call that bloody good . I could buy them

The 4x4 left hand drive recovery truck you refered to as American as it was a left hooker, is a 4x4 Leyland 45/ roadrunner ie UK made, probably for the British army, who spec lots of LHD trucks. If you had looked at the cab profile it is identical to the rest of the DAF 45 cabs scattered about. To be honnest it just looks like a breaker store for common Leyland DAF veriants. Most of the stuff looks way out of date .. hence keeping on to stuff as operstors still running crap kit will be strugling to find parts. The cab you got in with a bed was a DAF CF, not a great example of a truck even when new, small cramped, bought by large operators as they are cheap, but good on fuel and fairly reliable, not a favourite of drivers, low cab, poor vision, shocking steering wheel adjustment, poor accross cab or bed access. ... Ford 'cargo' is a Iveco eurocargo, one of the worse lorrie ever to operate in the UK. All I can see is crap Leylands, a few ERF EC 11's and a few Bedford TK's. I appreciate you found this place interesting but if you like me ard into trucks, the cv show or truckfest is where we all head for. Most these trucks are the dregs of their time. The ERF EC11's were sort of ok to drive, unless you have ever driven a Scania or a volvo, then ERF's would be a nightmare to drive, if you knew nothing else, then they were ok, but the rest are small rigids, 7.5t to 17t and bare basic muti drop crap. Crush them for tin cans.... exept of course the ERF's, as the cabs are fiberglass.... known as 'plastic pigs' by hgv drivers back in the day. Regards BasherMAN

Cheers You too. Ps I have a psv too. Started working on coaches as an apprentice in 1985, Duple, Plaxton, Bova and power plants wre mostly Bedford 500 series or Leyland Leppards. I have also driven DD and SD buses for First Bus. Mostly Volvo b9's . Also worked on infrastructure, bus stops and signes etc. By choice, I am a CE HGV 1 driver , drive a MAN TGX 26.500 ( wide ,tall sleeper cab) atric and carry a moffett mx truck mounted fork lift on a SDC rear steer spread axle trailer at 44 tonnes. Pro's.... money much better than on the buses Monday to Friday ... trucks are far more refind than buses, seat on air, air ride syspension, walk through cab, fridge, lockers, good quality bed. Same start time every day Get home every afternoon with little nights out New kit with 500 bhp No customers to deal with No stupid questions like ' why is the bus late'??? ( answer , cos you cocks keep asking why its late and not having payment ready oh and choosing to fanny about going upstairs instead of just sitting down!!!! Grrrr!!!) Cons Longer hours than the busses Tacho instead of running card Liitle to no social interaction Takes years to find a good well paid job that you like. Best wishes BasherMAN

@@shawnhammack5525 not sure where you are from but as for uk yes there is no law for trespass if police come and you on property then you have to leave and if you go back then you will get in to trouble becauce it becomes aggravated trespass on the second time if you are caught no the same place hope that was more help for you

@@reddragonurbex2912 It may depend on the state/county. But if you're cought on property uninvited you more than likely will be arrested. It can also depend on the property owner if they want to press charges.
