History
The house has been abandoned since 2016 until James bought the property in December 2021 for 8.5 Million. There is a grade II listed stone statue on his land which James has been asked to return back the where it originally came from in channel island.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a property so grandiose yet lacking in any style, it reminds me of when people in plain old houses add big stone lions, ‘torch effect’ lamps and a massive oak door in the hope that it looks like a castle.

James Corden bought this place when it was already abandoned, I don't think he has ever lived in it because he has been living in the USA for 8 years hosting a chat show, at any rate he got planning permission approved to demolish the whole lot and build a brand new six bedroomed house, so I think when he bought it he was interested in the land and the potential for a new house.

James Corden has NEVER lived in this house. He purchased the estate in early 2020, when he was still residing in the US, but had already decided to return to Britain, and needed a home there. this property is close to his parents home in the area where he grew up. It was always his intent to build a new house on that site, but as the property is currently zoned for only ONE residence, he could not obtain a demolition permit for that circular 60's house, until he had Council approval for his new one (which as noted above, took almost three years.)

Nah, no country cares about the men they send to die in wars of profit. They don't vote the correct way typically. So they will give homes like this to economic migrants who typically pay little to no taxes, hate the country their in and the people in it and send most of their $$ back to their home country. I've seen this happen in my home state. Migrants living in MANSIONS while our vets kill themselves IN DROVES and are dying on the streets suffering from PTSD, addiction etc.

I'm guessing the reason why JC bought this place is for investment purposes. The amount of land that is with it would be a developers dream. Knock down the existing buildings, get planning permission for X amount of new houses. The average house price in the UK is £294,000. In London it's £524,000 (both prices sourced from UK House Price Index, March 2022, GOV.UK) Hold on to that land for another twenty years and the prices would most probably increase by 50%. Nice little nest egg to retire too or pass on to his children. Great video, thanks. You have a new subscriber.

The house looks like something out of the 1960's and was abandoned long before Corden bought it. The flat roof and lack of access to the garage from within the house had me scratching my head a little. surely it could have better designed if it was meant to be luxurious. Another glaring oddity was the ridiculous number of bathrooms, showers and toilets. Unless the original owner was doubly incontinent, or could this have been a Country club/Hotel and not a family home?

He bought the property property for investment and I know he did apply for planning permission at one stage but not sure if it got approved or not, also he had some trouble with the historic stones that are located on the land, the people who gifted them to one of the previous owners wanted them back.

Mansion? It's only a 3 bed property! Looks more like a badly designed 1980s care home from the exterior! It's no wonder he abandoned it.😳😁 The Gatehouse will most likely be for the gardener/caretaker for the grounds and keeping the pool and exterior areas clean and tidy. Or as a guest house or acccomodation for parents, granny flat etc if there is no live in caretaker? That stone circle looked impressive, looks like it was presented to someone who maybe did something heroic or dangerous for Guernsey in the past? Wonder why they want them back? Unless there was a stipulation it stayed in the family, rather than the property?

The powers that be decide who is successful, they assist them, train them, give them advantages and hide their errors and mistakes. The whole system is fake from politics, sport, jobs and health care. Jeremy Hunt got a contract worth millions with no experience in that field. Sport players are not called on penalties if they can get away with it. Look how they took away Lewis Hamilton's 8th Championship so that he does not beat Michael Schumacher. Superbowl is completely fake too.

Just outside of your in the ground pool area that is not a boiler room, that is known as a pump house here in the States it is also a heated swimming pool so the boiler unit that you have there is to keep the water warm and the roundish blue tank that's in the corner is your pump. When you were in the kitchen you had indicated there were a lot of wasps, well wasps are attracted to sweet smelling or soft woods such as pine and woods like that period that's why you find them a lot of The Times in abandoned homes, because most of them are constructed with pine boards. The gatekeeper house is for the person who maintains the estate! Probably the last person who was on the premises after the house was closed up lived in that gatekeeper's house. It's the caretakers dwelling.

A gate house would be where the Security guy who mans the gate of the estate would work and live with his family. He would be chief of security, entrance Gardner, and in some cases even a head butler. Gate houses would be stationed at or near the entrances of the grounds and were usually Nice Miniature versions of the Main Mansion or estate building. I believe only one true Gate house remains in the UK which was for the main estate of a former Duke's family estate as the main estate was torn down due to horrible disrepair.
