Golders Green crematorium like all crematoria in the UK has many different memorial options. larger crematoria often have what is called a columbarium. columbaria have niches in which cremated remains can be deposited in an urn or casket. about 50% of people choose cremated remains are scattered or deposited in the grounds of the crematorium. Some people choose to scatter the cremated remains in a special place, family grave or keep them at home.

Very interesting - how were you able to obtain pictures of "behind the scenes"? Do staff allow you to see the cremators? Also, Woking crematorium should be included as it is the oldest in England :)

I've been there and think some are buried, some ashes strewn around or under plants/flowers and the plaques just a plaque on the brick wall. The urns inside were pretty.

there is also the possibility of having the cremated remains of a loved one (or part of them) transformed into a diamond or jewellery...even glass and porcelain. As Amy Winehouse was of the jewish faith it is most likely that her cremated remains will have been scattered on the crocus lawn at Golders Green crematorium and some form of memorialisation will have been arranged in the jewish shrine in the crematorium (scroll of remembrance, tablet or vase with Yahrzeit candle)

I read and replied. Thank you. You're quite correct. I'm sorry I said what I said, I am not educated in religion. But agree to your long reply. Thank you.

This is not a stupid question in the slightest. I think the ashes would most likely be buried or scattered over the garden, unless like Freud and Stoker their urns are displayed in niches. I know Amy Winehouse's family took her ashes away put with her Grandmother's

also would their families simply go visit their urns?

true; waste of time I think. Urns should be on a mantle and a sprig of holly on it during Dec. That's my future. On a mantle with a easter bunny egg in April! My daughter's aware of this and doesn't mind.

really? that is a very bold statement....any proof to back your claim up? cremation has long been a dignified and sympathetic method of disposing of the dead. Earth burial only became the norm with the introduction of judaism and christianity which I would like to point out has not always been around! The Pope lifted the ban on cremation in 1963 and since then has gained much acceptance. If someone was killed in a fire and no remains were recovered - would that be 'the way of Satan'?

what ? Satan was into ashes.......you have no proof of what you're stating.
