In today's video, I talked about Crew Resource Management (CRM), by the end of the content you will understand what CRM is and why it is so important in aviation.
Crew Resource Management is the effective use of all available resources inside and outside your plane.
In the old days, the human factor was the main cause of aircraft accidents. After the introduction of the Cockpit Voice Recorder and the Flight Data Recorder, the authorities were able to investigate in deep every accident that occurred in aviation.
The Authorities, after the investigations were completed, find out that the real root cause of the accidents, most of the time, was the fact that the flight crew was not able to deal with the situation they find themself in.
So the real problem was that the communication between the crew members was not consistent so the Teamwork was inefficient.
Back then, in many cases, the Authority level of the Captain was very high inside the flight deck, so the rest of the crew was just executing the Captain's commands most of the time.
By introducing the CRM (Crew Resource Management) the communication inside the plane between the crew improved drastically and, the authority level of the Captain inside the flight deck went down encouraging the co-pilot, and the rest of the crew, to speak up if they spot something that was not right.

You were at about 630 subs when I came across your channel. You're close to 1K now! Quality CRM is something hard to find and keep in virtually any career. Too bad pride gets too much in the way, the know-it-all comes from both the one who overestimates their own experience because of their seniority and the arrogance of the fresh trying to stand their ground thinking they are in a revolution and that they are invincible. One trying to teach a lesson that is not needed and the other trying to show off how much they've learnt in a short lifetime. That's how most issues take place. Aviation is like medicine, a humbling profession that shows how human you are and how much you can fail and forget. Maturity is such a hard thing to acquire and that's what it takes to admit our limitations. Great video, btw.

Excellent video, I was wondering if you can provide more examples of resources that CRM makes use of other than the manual and the other examples you mentioned?

Hey, many thanks for watching and the kind comment. Using good CRM means using any available resource that helps you to make the correct decision. This includes Cabin Crews, ATC, Co-pilot and more, it all depends on the Situation..

Good Day Capt Gabriele, short before takeoff when i am not wrong pilot have to push recall button. Let say flaps is not yet extend when we push recall button will an aural warning or somerhing shown on Display Unit/DU specific indicated flaps not yet extended ?

Hey, I hope you are doing great!! The recall button on the 737 won't alert you about the flaps position...only the take off warning aural system will alert you.. 👍
