Whats that translucent tape applied at the end on tha face called?

@@avalaxsog8380 extratec / bat facing. It’s a product most retailers will sell that protects the willow on the face from moisture and damage. Also means the bat won’t dry out and become brittle.

@@ravrayz5940 without asking them directly, I think/assume the black paste used is epoxy or polyester resin mixed with either glue powder or microballoons (fairing/filling compound). The black colour could be from a pigment that's added to the powder. Here in NZ we would get these types of products from lots of different stores that specialises in fibreglass and associated equipment. Repairs like this are often far cheaper than buying a new bat, and performance increases during the lifespan of a bat. Also, older bats like this can hold a sentimental value to customers.

@@magunra3k havent seen cricket slazenger brand in about 3 years.

@@waynevoss4194just done some research and well it's owned by sports direct so unless you frequent the stores I don't think you will see it many other places, obviously it will be in name only , I doubt the quality will be anything like it was back in the day, all my gear was slazenger back in the 90s .

How about customer asked for it? Modern handle shape versus old shape?

If customer asked then no option except replace. But since beginning, triple layer full Singapore cane round handle is considered better than oval or any other type. In the video, the bat was old and much used but handle was still looking absolute. Only grip and threads work was required. It's my thoughts only.

This was a very standard repair, and our handle replacements carry a 12-month warranty. We've been doing this a long time now, so we know what works.

Thanks, I just subscribed and hadn't watched any of your other videos. The handle wasnt a concern but rather how the toe and face were repaired. Those have always seemed to split again for repaired bats that ive used as well as altering the characteristic of how it hits the ball. I suppose thats the nature of the use of the bat and a new bat will always be needed at some point. The bats look lovely afterwards so well done for giving new life to an otherwise non usuable bat. Cheers.
