Hey one thing to modify, I haven't had a chance to upload an update on a modification, but over time the manifold is kind of heavy and the vibration caused the threaded coupler to the manifold coming straight off the pump to bounce and split so I replaced that threaded coupler with just a thread on barb from tractor supply and added some of that blue hose for about 6 feet between the barb and the manifold so the manifold sits on the ground and doesn't bounce around. That blue hose is the hose that you use to expel the water from the pump that you can get at Tractor Supply by the foot it's pretty cheap. If this doesn't make sense drop your email in the comments and I'll send you a picture.

GREAT VID!!! One suggestion.. Run a larger line(not a garden hose) to those heads.. Smaller and longer hose equals greater friction loss down the line,,and greater engine rpm... Love the trash pump usage!!

Put your vegetables on a long mound and dig trenches on both sides of the mounds. You then run a irrigation line at the high end of the garden with a bunch of lines teed off going to to each trench. This way you just fill the trenches with water and you get 100% of the water going to each plant. Farmers all around me do it like this. Also keeps the plants from molding or burning.

Running gas pumps when under pressure won't hurt anything, but preferably idled back. Plus the reason to add water before starting the engine, or priming it is to lubricate and cool the pump seal till it draws the water from the pond.

Get you a new bucket with a lid. Cut your hole 🕳 in the lid for your hose. Take the bucket drill a bunch of holes in it. Bolt some weight at the bottom of the bucket. Put the lid on and put it in the water. You are having to much fun. I'm getting ready to do the same thing lol. Good luck to you and stay safe✌.

I have one of these 2" diesel pump (made in PRC) that I would like to use to wash my exacavator in the field. I am thinking of building an attachment like yours and connect it to regular 1/2" or 3/4" hose. Do you think that will work?
@ChikinTown
@ChikinTown 16 күн бұрын
@flyingchef6980 Yes, I'm running 3/4 inch hoses. Just be careful to not rev it all the way up if you don't need to because that's a lot of pressure going down one hose. You might start blowing pvc joints apart. I would run it around half throttle, 3/4 throttle at the most and if you build it with multiple hose outlets, you can crack one open and let some of the pressure flow through that one so you don't tear up your system from over pressure. Just play with it until you find a happy spot that doesn't look like it's going to explode lol. I run 4 to 6 sprinkler heads so I can run mine wide open and I'm releasing plenty of pressure so it's not an issue if you're running multiple hoses.

glad you saved that pump but MAN got me thinking, Americans throw a lot of good stuff! one-time-use for such a nice pump? screw that it's cheap, it's still pure waste!!! Btw. you can use it to pump the water up into a 55 gallon drum which you set higher than the garden. from it, you can drip irrigate the garden. saves money and time and water (read: pump gas).

@@ChikinTown Problem is with a gas engine pump, there is no way to automate the process. You would have to monitor the level of water in the reservoir and then run the pump (and wait) until its filled again.

In my day we had windmills that filled an elevated tank automatically and disengaged when tank filled and gravity fed the garden on demand. Every farmhouse had one. We even had running water in the house from the windmill. They were so much simpler. That was until the 1970s. Now you gotta use a noisy pump and a bunch of labor each time.

this is a great idea, and not just for watering a garden. where i live wildland fires are my concern. this would work great if i set the sprinkles up on t-post fencing around my house, then i could make a perimeter defense zone around my house. i have an idea to use an above ground pool for the water source, abut 7,000 gallons, and how you have built the manifold would make it real simple to send water where its needed. a few questions, how many sprinklers can you run at once on idol, and how many with the throttle tuned up? what is the out put like at the furthest sprinkler head, and how far from the pump is it?
@ChikinTown
@ChikinTown 2 жыл бұрын
Great idea! Currently I'm running nine sprinklers using all four valves on the manifold. I'm pretty sure I can run several more. I currently run them all on full throttle but they will run at idle, they just won't have the spray distance. The farthest sprinkler head is about 150 ft from the pump and is slightly less output but still works good. Most of my pipes are 3/4 PVC and I'm also using some regular garden hoses for a new area that I'm experimenting with, try to use 3/4 inch hoses for best volume.

I am really wanting a similar set up for my garden… My garden is right beside a branch that is fed from a spring and it’s really handy to pump water out of it when there hasn’t been rain. Right now, I just have a giant hose rigged to it and I try to simulate rain over my garden while I hold the hose. It’s not efficient at all. My questions for you are… where did you get the attachment with the two spigots that is attached to the outgoing water hole on your pump. Did you make it? I just want to run two sprinklers from regular hoses with that same setup. Would it be safe to run the pump at max power with that set up?
@ChikinTown
@ChikinTown 2 жыл бұрын
I made the attachment (manifold) from PVC parts from Lowes. Valves are PVC plumbing valves. The quick connects are from tractor supply. I ran full power to 2 hoses for a year with no issue but I'd start with lower throttle to see if your connections hold up. Good PVC joints are a must. I've since made a new manifold with 4 valves to expand my garden. I suggest making a larger manifold in case you expand. Watch the update video in my channel for a fix of the manifold that broke.

I did an update video where I found that manifold cracked at the threaded part coming off the pump from vibration. Go to Tractor Supply and get about 6 ft of trash pump blue discharge hose that you can buy by the foot and a couple of clamps. You'll also need a male threaded nipple to go into the trash pump side to attach the flexible hose. Or you can use whatever fittings you want to go between the pump and the manifold to attach the flexible blue hose. Then the manifold can lay flat on the ground and it won't vibrate and crack.
