Deserved it over Modric. Came runner up to Kaka in 06/07. I remember around the time, alot of ppl actually felt like he deserved it, but Kaka balled out in the Champions League that year so fair play to him. Would have been favourite to win it in 2009 - but the ref in the Chelsea vs Barca game in the second leg of the CL semi finals had probably the most scandalous officiating display in recent football history. He won Barca that game, and they went on to beat Utd in a final they shouldn't have even been in in the first place... pretty sure that's where the whole "Barca pays refs" thing started 😂

Rooney even said Ronaldo was the best player in the world in 2007 after Kaka won the Balon d'Or over him; maybe implying Ronaldo should've won it. He won every other individual trophy in 2006-07 and would've won the Balon d'Or had he won the Champions League.

Always think about those what-ifs in 06/07 and 08/09. I also think that had he outshined Kaka and beat Milan in the tie, he probably could've won the Ballon D'or in 2007. There were already people giving him best in the world shouts at the time. Ultimately though, the way things panned out Kaka deserved it. And yup, I also agree with the CL 2009. Barca shouldn't have even been in that final. It should've been United vs Chelsea in the final, and I think if that had happened United would've beaten them. It would've been another Ballon D'or sealed for Ronaldo if he won the UCL that year too. In an alternate timeline this guy three-peated the Ballon D'or from 07' to 09' lol

@@pratyushyt8595I believe there are really two areas the ballon dor really relies on. Individual success, and trophies. In terms of trophies success. Ronaldo deserves 2008,2014,2016,2017,2018. Individually, he deserves 2008,2013,2014,. Many of his ballon d’or years his stats and performance were below, Suarez, or Messi.

Should have won 8 or 9 Ballon dors already: 06/07 was better than Kaka in league play 08/09 (refs gifted Barca 2nd leg vs Chelsea otherwise back to back UCL double) 11/12 (his best season imo and him at his monstrous APEX - i take 11/12 Cr7 over any playet in history except maybe 21 year old Pele or maybe 86 Maradona, and even then im picking Ronaldo) 17/18 (French politics, Modric himself admitted he didn't really "expect" it - aka "deserve" it. Imo, had he beaten Kaka and Milan in 06/07 he probably could've won it then. But fair play to Kaka, he deserved it in the end for me. 08/09, I agree 100% but what could you do about cheating...11/12, I think Messi deserved it just because of the ridiculous amount of goals he scored, it's just to hard to ignore. Although, I think that season Ronaldo was a better overall player and probably the most complete player in history. 17/18 was daylight robbery, should've gone to him without a doubt.

Idk What you think but Ronaldo already lost a bit of his legs during 2020-21 season at Juve but he still ran 34 km/h against Newcastle in his debut game for man United. But after that his pace really went down quickly just after some months or even weeks. Wtf did they do to him at man United or did his age start to affect him really badly? I've thought about this a few times recently. You're 100% right, he was still rapid and super sharp when he first arrived at United, and he was up until the first months of 2022. If you look back at his first games there you can notice it instantly. But idk if you remember how Cavani was constantly injured and Ronaldo had to play so many games without rest, that shattered his legs I believe. Especially considering the Prem is the most physically demanding league in the world, it literally destroyed his legs 3x faster than any other league would have.

The real problem with the balloon d'or of 2013 isnt the quality of ribery or ronaldo, is the delay for the votations, it was supposed to happen before the match of portugal and sweden (ronaldo scored hattrick and qualified his country to the wc), since it happen after that match people will vote for ronaldo instead of ribey only for that match
