Great pickups, always fun to check some out during the Criterion flash sales!

Thanks, Corey. These and Barnes & Noble sale videos do well, but other Criterion Haul don’t do quite as well for me.

Nice pickups, Steve! The Following release is a good one and a glimpse of the filmmaking genius to come from Nolan. Rashomon!!! So so good. I love Kurosawa. My flash sale order delivery for delayed and is coming tomorrow (Wednesday). Thank you for sharing!
@excelsiormoviereviews4 ай бұрын
Thanks, James. Yes, I’m quite happy that Nolan has a film in the collection and that he’s going to get recognition for his hard work with Oppenheimer on Oscar. Rashomon was right up there with the Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood and The Hidden Fortress for me. Dreams was good as well and I have at least 3 more on my list from Kurosawa, but I wish that Ran was still in print. I hope that your order gets delivered tomorrow, I want to see your Flash Sale video. I just watched In The Heat of the Night about 10 minutes ago and it was insane from 1967, but I wasn’t shocked about that time period.

I'm not familiar with much Shakespeare literature, but Criterion put out the 1948 best picture winner "Hamlet" and it's a very understandable and enjoyable watch.

I need to check out Hamlet on Criterion, thank you for the recommendation.

I have over 200 Criterion's so I'm just about winding down, unless something spectacular comes along that I MUST buy.
@excelsiormoviereviews4 ай бұрын
Yes, that happens sometimes. One thing that might be a good idea would be to check your local library and sample some of Criterions there before buying them. They usually have just the DVD with less special features and the Blu Ray editions usually have more added features. That’s what I did with Eyes Without A Face and I’m glad that I bought it later on. I agree, new releases are where a lot of people are now, especially if they have close to a complete collection already. That’s very impressive that you have 200 titles, I have a little over 150 titles now.

The Barnes and Noble near me doesn't sell movies! Bummer. I have to go to the one near my Mom but that's 70 miles away.
@excelsiormoviereviews4 ай бұрын
That sucks, their Criterion section keeps downsizing at the ones near me and one of them doesn’t sell Criterions at all anymore.

I must be a softie cause there is definitely more than one disturbing scene in Trainspotting 😅
@excelsiormoviereviews4 ай бұрын
Yes, after watching it again on Friday a lot more than the toilet came back to and then I remembered how disgusting that is. I still love the music and the Sean Connery/Bond references and I am planning to watch the sequel this weekend.

Is the scene from Trainspotting that you were talking about the one involving a toilet? Also, I'm a huge fan of Robert Carlyle so it made me super happy that you gave him a shout out. His performance as Begbie was easily my favorite part of that movie. 🙂
@excelsiormoviereviews4 ай бұрын
Right on about Carlyle. Yes, that toilet scene is disgusting and I forgot about some of the other stuff in the movie, but I always told myself when I used to watch this more that this is just a movie and that’s not real excrement. I really want to see the sequel from 2017 now.

did you ever see Trainspotting 2? I haven’t. I feel like I’d need to rewatch the first which I havent seen it since i saw it in theaters. In Heat of Night is great. Classic. Peter Falk worked a lot with Cassavettes even though this was directed my Elaine May. I find a lot of those Cassavettes films interesting but can be a chore to watch. Good stuff dude.

@@STEVEHEROLD I watched T2 and I thought it was a major step down from the original but it was still cool to see all of the characters again/all of the actors together again! ❤️
@STEVEHEROLD4 ай бұрын
@@alydematti had you seen the first one recently before you watched part 2? I'd be curious to check it out but don't remember a lot of the first. I liked it but just havent seen it in so long.

@@STEVEHEROLD Yes! I watched T2 the day after I watched Trainspotting. I would definitely recommend rewatching the original before you watch T2! 🧡

Yes, unfortunately Criterion only ships in the U.S.

Hello steve. Just subscribed to your channel. Great criterion pickups I have about 280 criterions including some of their old dvds. Lately i haven't been able to purchase criterion titles as i live in a middle eastern country with huge economic problems. Believe it or not my collection is 100 percent imported ad we don't have physical media here My last purchased criterion title was the bluray of the amazing ( after hours ) by Scorsese. Really wish it won't be the last. Anyways hope for the growth of your channel and keep enjoying collecting and the surreal world.of cinema.👍 PS: was the.scene in trainspotting the toilet scene chasing.after the drugs or the pooping on the chest scene ? Take care.
@excelsiormoviereviews4 ай бұрын
That’s excellent, thank you. Yes, you have more Criterions than I have (157 in my collection). Yes, I watched Trainspotting last night after I shot the video and I found those two scenes as disgusting as I did when I watched it the time before. I just have always told myself that it’s just a movie and it’s not real human waste.
