I AM CRYING RIGHT NOW, If anyone doesn't know, this organ was made by Donald Stinson, Aka My Great Grandfather. I appreciate you visiting and viewing his work about 30 years after he made this organ, eve in 2022 people still look at his things... Thank you for bringing back memories.

@@wurly164 hi this is my main Well his health has been degrading somewhat since he is in his 90s now. We go out to check on him from now and then. His wife, my great grandmother has Alzheimer's and is obviously somewhat forgetful sometimes. I find it crazy how he is still perfectly fine in the head, he is just as advanced as you and I, just his body isn't what It used to be. He has been retired from organ building since about 2014 or so, but he still works on projects now and then. He was a mechanic back in veitnam and has always been a natural when it comes to engineering of sorts. To simplify, my great grandfather has been doing pretty ok since he was last building organs. Once again, thank you all for viewing his legacy and creations all these years later. Peace and love

great video, that behind the organ footage was great Fun fact, the LA based ballet company I dance with did a 'filmed' show during the pandemic - the Circus of Worldly Wonders Some of the footage was shot around the carousel and surrounding areas of Griffith Park. I'd really like to get out there before heading to Disneyland, but much of the early part of my trip is class and getting ready for our show October 8th & 9th in La Canada

The original organ of this carousel is still on it. It's a North Tonawanda, it is in the middle of the carousel. If you see a big wooden box at 12:21 at the bottom right of the video, that's the North Tonawanda organ. In 1939 when the carousel came to Griffith Park Ross R. Davis(the owner at the time) purchased a Wurlitzer 165 brand new with a Wurlitzer 157 facade as a 165 facade didn't exist for it, they were all used up. It was the very last band organ to ever come out of Wurlitzer's factory also in North Tonawanda. That organ was removed in 1976 after the Lincoln Park carousel fire as at Lincoln Park Ross R. Davis already had another Wurlitzer 165 there but it was one with a proper 165 facade and it had lights on it. Only 3 Wurlitzer 165's were ever originally constructed with lighted facades. The 18th Wurlitzer 165 produced(serial 3437, now in Howard Winstead's home, Warwick, Rhode Island) didn't originally have lights but in 1925 lights were put on it which it still has(Wurlitzer factory records show evidence). The Griffith Park 165(the one with the 157 facade) went to Donald Rand's home after removal and the Lincoln Park 165 played there until 1986. Then the Stinson organ came along. The Griffith Park 165 is now in American Treasure Tour, Oaks, Pennsylvania where 2 other much older 165's can be found. American Treasure Tour is the only place in the world with more than 1 Wurlitzer 165 as only 24 were made and 11 survive today. As for the Lincoln Park 165 it didn't play at all from 1986 after it's bellows are said to have broke. It sat, not played ONCE, from 1986 until 2014 as Glenn S. Thomas bought that organ in 2013 and sent it to Joe Hilferty(organ restorer in York, Pennsylvania) to fix it up. The Lincoln Park Wurlitzer 165 now is in Glenn S. Thomas's house in New Jersey.

@@JimmyGoodYT Those Wurlitzer 165's I mentioned are on KZfaq too, search "Last Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ" for the Griffith Park 165 on Wurly164's channel, and "Wurlitzer 165 3629" or "Lincoln Park Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ" for the Lincoln Park/Glenn Thomas 165. Glenn Thomas's 165 can be found on his channel, Javaan83's channel, Andrew Lardieri's channel and other people's KZfaq accounts probably. But his 165 is in his house so it's private. As for American Treasure Tour it will occasionally open up for the public to go on tram tours to see the organs and other collectibles there. Need I say also that the Griffith Park 165 will look like the Stinson organ that's there now as Stinson had a strange attachment to the Wurlitzer 157 facades and reproduced them a lot for his organs.
