This is a Hype Vs Reality review for n the Chris Reeve Knives large Inkosi, with micarta inlays. This is a comprehensive review with specs and size comparisons, and there is also footage of me using the knife. I did say these were available at Rive’s edge Cutlery, but they are actually out of them at the moment of this release, but alchemy depending on when you’re watching this.

Just got my first chris reeves yesterday: a large plain Inkosi. It makes all my benchmades, spydercos, cold steel etc from the past 20 years a collective JOKE. Being a machinist for a living, I can really appreciate the world class machining that goes into this knife.

Awesome! Congrats! I agree man! Once I handled a Crk, every other knife became sub par, at least when it comes to build quality. As a machinist, you will have an even deeper appreciation. I was not a machinist, but I worked closely with machinist in what I did as a carpenter, and always wanted to delve deeper into machining. I will one day

@@dr.stevenpennym.d.3241 so, it has been 11 months. Since buying the inkosi, I've bought: crk umnumzaan, Hinderer xm-18, olamic rainmaker, shirogorov quantum and just yesterday I got a Koenig Arius in the mail I must say many of those are better than the Inkosi to me. I rarely carry it anymore My best knife is easily the shirogorov quantum. Koenig is an easy second Id say xm-18 wins 3rd, and umnumzaan wins 4th Inkosi and rainmaker tied for 5th This koenig arius though is amazing! What a great knife for the price

I just got the arius a couple weeks ago and I'm in danger of falling back into a severe buying cycle. Tax returns on the way. Been thinking of getting a Shiro F95/f3, or a Grimsmo

This review is sooo spot on! I have quite a few nice knives. But this one is definitely my favorite. 👍🏻 When I got my Inkosi a few years ago, first thing I did was strip it down and inspect every inch of it. Like microscopic inspection. And I couldn't find a single flaw any where on it. Just PERFECT 😍 but I still plan on getting the Insingo version to add to the collection.

@@inthepocket7405 , oh, and about the Resolza by Extrema Ratio. You can get them in 3 sizes(S, M & L) and 2 finishes (all black & Stonewashed). I have the Large, All black. If you like a beautiful, large and sleek design, this is for you. It's almost 13 inches with the blade out. The blade is 6", but 5.5" sharp. When closed it's about 7", that is the handle length also. But it is so thin and sleek that it fits perfectly in your pockets. The blade is very sharp and pointy. You easily open it one handed in all directions and all styles, fingers, thumb. And so smoooooth😊. I will buy the Small version, Stonewashed. Just to have an nice, little pocket knife for cutting apples, dry meat and other stuff. Highly recommend. Buy it before it's gone from the marked. It is maybe pricey, but when you think of it, they often take like $100 an inch for a custom Resolza. And this is very High Quality.👍

I've had my new Large Inkosi for 3-4 days now. At first, I thought "OMFG, what have I done!?" Spent $450 on a knife that's stiff, heavy, plainer looking than other CRKs (by and large), and the most expensive effing knife that I've ever had to save for since I was 3 years old (I'm 70 now)! But looking back after a few days, I've now come to realize that it's just normal for this knife. I had nothing to worry about at all, and after spending a couple hours altogether opening and closing the knife and maybe backing the pivot out slightly, I can say the knife has taken on a new classier and more functional, useful character. I'm quite happy with its smooth, solid feel, and I believe that more improvement is just around the corner. It ain't no flipper, though, but it's not intended to be. Still, however, it's not in the same league as any of my 3 Chinese copycat CRKs. They were like glass right-out-of-the-box compared to my Inkosi, and I got all 3 of them for about 1/8th the price of the Inkosi. Live and learn.
@inthepocket7405
@inthepocket7405 4 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely not a knife that you get value from looking at it, or playing with it. More of a knife that gets its value from use and longevity. That knife could be passed down to your kids, and their kids, and then you grandchild could send it in for spa treatment, and pretty much get back a brand new knife. Can’t do that with the Chinese knock offs... I totally get that you could just buy another one, but I’d rather just buy once, cry once. I’ve got four crk’s at this point, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything... even more expensive customs in most cases.

The knife will withstand the flicking, but be advised that it places lots of pressure on the ceramic ball against the blade steel. It will unnecessarily cause the ball to cut a groove into the blade lock surface area. Just open the knife normally. It’s not a Spyderco.

I’ve got the Large micarta Sebenza 21 with Insingo blade and think ergos are good. I have the Knife Art Exclusive Large Carbon Fiber Inkosi with an Insingo Blade arriving in a couple of days. I wonder whst the difference will be with a carbon fiber scale vs the inlays. I know it’ll be lighter, but I wonder if it’ll be a plus or negative for the ergos? Excellent review and my Insingo Blade Sebenza has the same bte thickness as your Drop point inkosi. Nice review Kenny. I believe you covered it all.

John M. Runyon How did I miss this comment John🤔 How did it work out, comparing the ergos? I do prefer the micarta inlaid versions in hand. Although, handling BJ’s 21, with plain handles, I would gladly take one of those too, and it’s really not bad. I think I might get the 31 with an insingo, plain handle config, since I’m not that into the inlay pattern. I’m not sure, but will find out soon, but it seems like the bte thickness is similar between the two, but the 21 insingo has a deeper hollow, and would maintain that bte thickness for a lot longer, and slice better. It also has a thinner stock thickness. Thanks so much buddy:)

InThePocket funny. I told iheartknives the samething. My next one (31) will be a plain Jane. I love the way the ti ages. Inlays cover that up. I prefer the 21, but that might be due to the inlays making it feel better.
