TT and Naima With the daily dose yeah your too early to be thinking about this in 7th grade but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Just make sure you focus on building great memories in middle school, just being a kid, cuz when you become a senior, you’re gonna have to be very responsible which is a drag. I miss being a kid so much but adult hood have its perks.

I started my journey 10 years ago when I started nursing school knowing I wanted to be a CRNA but, like many others, fell into the war of NP vs CRNA...all of your reasons you spoke about are almost exactly what I feel especially after being at the bedside for almost 7 years. I WANT TO USE MY HANDS! not sit and write notes... And now after all this time, I have my first CRNA school interview next month 🙂 Thank you for the solid answers and encouragement!

CRNA also chooses people. for example, you need to be preparing from day 1 of nursing school (good grades, working in an ICU) to even entertain the thought of becoming a CRNA. one of the CRNAs i shadowed always used to say "many may be invited to CRNA but few are chose" and this is 100% correct. i love that you touched on the not bringing work home bc this is a VERY important thing that nurses forget about when they are considering furthering their education. i really want to do CRNA myself but i feel like i dont have what it takes bc i always hear how hard it is !!

Thank you so much for this video. As a nursing student, I have been thinking a lot about CRNA vs NP, after my BSN, but your videos cut to the chase and you make really good points. I have been doing some research on the course, and I really like the level of autonomy with CRNA. I watched other CRNA videos on KZfaq but none stirred me like yours did. So thank you so much for this video. I am seriously considering this field. 😊

Thank you for validating my reasons for wanting to become a CRNA. Every point you brought up from CRNA to NP is exactly why I prefer CRNA. I am working at an outpatient mental clinic as a nurse and I get to see what a Nurse practitioner does and I never really liked the idea of sitting in an office seeing patient to patient typing up notes and having patients contact me with questions and other problems. It just seems too much. I know there are other specialties within NP but just observing from the side I don’t think it’s my cup of tea
@theCRNADrip

We’re def alike lol... and I think it’s still a good idea to shadow both but ultimately the point of shadowing a NP at this point for you would be to further solidify your decision of wanting to go to CRNA school

Patrick, you sound like me 😜 Don’t get me wrong, the charting and other tedious tasks you mentioned other ARNPs perform, are necessary; just not what I’m interest in doing. I too love critical care. I love the process of titration and figuring out what, is making pathologies go south, then fixing them. I love the science behind illness and the science of anesthesia. There are many benefits to being an anesthetist and I look forward to one day embarking on the journey to become an anesthetist. Thank you for sharing your videos, brother!

So it seems like you also respond to airway calls on the units-- super cool! Do you, as the CRNA & anesthesia team, respond to scenarios on the ICU's and floors to intubate? In your facility, do you handle all difficult grade 4 airways? Do CRNA's float all centrals, including Swans? Just had some burning questions!
@theCRNADrip
@theCRNADrip 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Lawrence, so I’m not a CRNA just yet lol ... but thanks for speaking it into existence, CRNAs definitely respond to critical airways on the icus. That’s where I saw my first CRNA as a nursing student. And honestly you won’t know what grade a patient is until you go to put the tube in. So if you happen to have that patient then that’s your patient lol no switching.... difficulty of cases my be a more selective thing between a CRNA or MDA depending on the facility. But many rural areas, are primarily CRNA operated so you can get all the cases... same thing with central, swans, and block... just depends on the facility

Thank you Patrick! I'm looking for some quick advice, if you have a second... I'm considering Nursing school for my BSN, as a second degree. I've been getting cold feet lately because I've realized how introverted I am. So the conventional nurse position is starting to become too intimidating to pursue. But when I think about trying out striving towards something like anesthesia, it sounds way more appealing, because I have great eyes, focus, and attention to detail. Do you recommend anesthesia for an introverted person or any other branch in the field, post BSN?

What are your thoughts on ER nurse practitioners vs ER Doctors? I graduate from my BSN nursing program in April and have been considering acute care gerontology nurse practitioner school with a year emergency medicine certification. I keep on hearing that they have similar or the same treatments and responsibilities.
@theCRNADrip

So I worked in the ER when I was in nursing school as a tech. I didn’t work with NPs but PAs and they typically were in the REU (Rapid Evaluations) and some would be on the main side. They also ran codes alongside the MDs it just depends on what level of responsibility you want. And also it depends on what acuity level the hospital you will work at as well! I love the ER! I say go for it if know that’s what you wanna do!!

Well although my school doesn’t completely ban you from working, I decided not to work at all. Some programs are trying to structure the schema to where the first semester is completely online to give you a little extra time to work and save if you like. But for me, I DEFINTELY wouldn’t try it lol but I know people who do. But it’s like 1 shift a month or something like that

colman duncan so first see if your required text has a pocket companion(more condensed version, easier to get through) also see if they have a questions review book. These don’t have to be the most updated versions because the info rarely changes and there’s a huge price difference between the latest version and the previous edition, I would go no more than 1 previous edition. ( BUT remember any testable information will be From the required text edition.) with that being said, read through the chapters, take notes from there, then your focus should be on answering the questions to make sure you can apply or recall the info.. take note from the rationales as well
