This is the SOLID Tight Join As You Go Continuous Method (sometimes known as the PLT Pull Loop Through Method) which is perfect for joining solid granny squares with a completely flat back with pretty corded front. Scroll for timestamps and links to other videos (as mentioned in the introduction) 👇
This method of joining is like magic! It is my go to method for joining squares when using one single colour - the bonus is you will only have 2 ends to sew in! Yep just 2 ends as you are joining the entire blanket with just one strand of yarn for the whole project.

Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on KZfaq yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet...

Thanks for the in depth tutorial. It appears missing the first dc leaves the work slightly mis-aligned. I might try both methods of attaching to first and second dc and compare. Thanks for the clear instructions ❣

I've just pinned your comment so all can see - I hadn't even noticed until you mentioned it but once the entire piece is joined and bordered you do not notice it 😀 Please feel free to experiment and let me know if going into that 1st dc makes a difference as I can edit the description to update if that works better 👍 x As long as I've explained the overall concept of the continuous tight JAYG I'm happy LOL!

Just edged and joined a blanket with 49 motifs using this technique. I'm a VERY experienced crocheter, but it took me a while to fully understand and memorize what to do at the various "decision points," but I've GOT IT now. Your explanations and video work were SO clear. LOVED not having to sew (which I despise) AND not having all those ^&*^$#&* yarn ends to sew in. Was able quite easily to adapt this technique to a "linen stitch" (sc, ch 1) border. THANK YOU, Robin!

I thought they might straighten out by joining them together but now my whole first row is wavy. I don’t “really” want to block all the granny squares individually, but that’s the only thing I can think of, unless blocking at the very end would be as effective. Any suggestions? Thank-you!!

you should be able to use any stitch...the stitch count matters more than the stitch...as long as you are matching the stitch in one square to the corresponding stitch in the other...the actual stitch you use shouldn't matter...the difference in using a single, double, or treble will be the width of the "border" around your squares

Ellen Rose Yes, you can. I've been doing this join for over 5 years. For borderless joins, you will only need to join as you are finishing each square (not bordering them in a different color). Go round and round in whatever color, leaving the last edges to be worked into other squares, so they look like squares touching each other by their natural sides. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say. ♡

I've done 2 rows and they are not lining up, second row is definitely not lined up vertically with first. Does it line up when blocked?
@HookedbyRobin
@HookedbyRobin 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm - if its not lining up, you can always have a play about and try skipping extra stitches at the beginning - the important bit is nailing the tight join, feel free to tweak the rest to suit 🥰

How do join different sizes granny squares by this method? I want to join different sizes granny square by this joining method.
@jpoe8915
@jpoe8915 3 жыл бұрын
if you are joining different sizes....make sure you join the corners of any squares that align at the corner like she shows on the outer edge...so you don't have any corners hanging that fall on a solid side of other squares. It will lay better than trying to join those hanging corners in the middle of a solid side.

Hi, This is best for joining solid granny squares with a completely flat back with pretty corded front. This method of joining is like magic! It is my go to method for joining squares when using one single colour - the bonus is you will only have 2 ends to sew in! Yep just 2 ends as you are joining the entire blanket with just one strand of yarn for the whole project.😀 You can also use these depending on what type square you have made or want to make: How to do the Tight Join As You Go: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hLNdpcxh09HIlGQ.html How to do the Continuous Granny Style Join As You Go (for traditional granny squares) : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obGjlcJivrq6ZH0.html
