well thought out design! Finally, a gift worthy item, and what my mom and grandmother just "did" by feel. Theirs are ok, but do not lay flat and look so nice with the availability of cute dish towels you can buy these days. My attempts to copy theirs are always a bit top heavy and lop sided and I have always cut the towel in half. Your instructions cleared that up. I won't be cutting them in half anymore. But one thing to take the guessing out of the stitch lengths in the very first chain stitch/sewing row is to fold your towel in 4ths and run disappearing ink pen down the folds, and when you unfold it, the marks are well placed points to put your needle in for even stitch spaces. Also, a stitch marker would help beginners see where to begin the decreases . But if you don't have stitch markers, just pull a 3 inch piece of yarn of a different color through that stitch. Soon you'll see where it is that you begin doing the decreases. If you think through it some more, each row decreases by half of the previous rows decreases. i.e. The first row had 8 double crochet decreases on each end, the next row calls for 4 double crochet decreases on each end, then the next row decreases each end for 2 double crochet decreases. etc.

When it really comes down to it, if you use them daily, and not decoratively, then it doesnt.matter what color the yarn is. I go through them. I bought a bunch from a.lady at a farmers market, about 2 years ago, and I need to get more, so um gonna try making my own. We live in the desert.on 3 acres and we get dirty. Plus my husband tinkers with cars, besides other house/yard maintenance. I have a wall oven I out seasonal decorative hand towels on I made with fabric, but I use the yarn ones hanging on my dish drain by the sink. They are awesome.

She is that good! Thank you. I finally found a manufacturer that includes a lop to hang your towel on, but only on the cabinet door knob. I like these crochet loops because of the open and close which wraps around your oven door, but I don't put towels on there personally. I like them closer to the sink....so,I won't be crocheting the topper to fold over and close with a button; I'll just stick a loop into the cabinet door knob. Thank you for sharing!

I really like this but could you show how the finished product sits on the oven handle. I saw another video and she did the same like you starting at the towel crease but then folded the sides around and crocheted the front stitch and the back chain stitch together. That way the towel laid folded. I'm a newbie to crocheting so am nervous about instructions.

I know you stated there there's no set number of sewn stitches. But would you suggest to end up with either odd or even numbers of stitches? I did make this towel topper just once but ended up with 11 stitches rather than 10 stitches for the "neck" of the towel topper. That's why I'm asking about starting off with odd or even stitches. I love this pattern and the look of the towel topper and will definitely be making more of these but want to end up with the 10 stitches for the neck of the towel. Thanks!
