Cromer was originally Shipden Juxta Felbrigg - or is thought to have been. There is no mention of Cromer in the Domesday Book, but this village, the sister of the seaside Shipden Juxta Mere, which famously disappeared into the sea, is thought to have been the basis for the current settlement.

As it is, as far as I can see, it hasn't happened yet. The old steamboat you mentioned isn't actually down there - they towed most of it away for scrap. Sure there's probably the odd bit of iron around, but not a full ship, like shown in the footage. :\
