I know right. okay, this is going to sound really stupid but I had a fear that I wasn't going to a chosen one is a story or whatever. That I wouldn't get magical powers and be...completely and utterly _normal_ and not make a difference. That I wasn't going to be special. When Inej said that, that fear dissolved. I felt a knot loosen. I felt...better. Inej is just...amazing, you know?

Kaz doing the bluff at the end was amazing because it harkens back to the beginning of Six of Crows when he lies about burning Geels' girlfriend's apartment. Again he was with Inej who both times asked if the girlfriend and the son could be saved. It goes back to the line "when everyone knows you're a monster you needn't waste time doing every monstrous thing." which really shows not only the reputation Kaz has built for himself, but it also shows his mercy because his cruelty and ruthlessness always serve a purpose, we never see him being a monster for the sake of being one.

Ivana Janić This is a SPOILER SO PLEASE DON'T CONTINUE IT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ CROOKED KINGDOM They had a very deep conversation about Kaz and him needing or deserving salvation (I don't recall exactly as I read it a year ago). Inej needed to change her bandages and Kaz offered his help, leading hum to touch Inej's skin willingly. He struggled at first, but she helped telling him stories about the Menagerie. In the end Kaz (FINALLY) leaned in and touched his lips to Inej's neck. He then was overwhelmed by his sickness and snapped at Inej, but she knew that he had wanted to, and that maybe they could try again.💜

My favorite parts of Crooked Kingdom . . . how about the whole book? XD Seriously though, the Six of Crows duology is my ALL TIME FAVORITE SERIES, Crooked Kingdom is my favorite book, and Kaz is my favorite character and the whole story was just incredible. I think if I HAD to pick favorite scenes they would include: When Kaz bluffed Pekka into thinking he buried his son. When Inej finds Pekka at the end and gives his son a crow doll while he's sleeping (OMG THAT SCENE WAS AWESOME!) When Kaz takes control over the Dregs from Heskell. When Wylan sticks it to his dad by "reading" the document at the end, and then Jesper saying that he'll stick around and help Wylan read. When Inej finally beats the White Blade assassin, and discovers that she doesn't want to give up on Ketterdam. Chapter 40 . . . just chapter 40 . . . the last Matthias chapter right after he dies and in particular the line "They were calling him home." That single line had me hysterically crying and it still chokes me up whenever I read it. The entire scene with Kaz and Inej on the dock when he gives her the boat. OMG When Kaz scares the crap out of the little girl at the beginning by saying that he's the monster that lives under her bed! I almost forgot about that one! The scene with Kaz and Inej in the bathroom of the hotel . . . I was fangirling SO HARD during this scene! I could go on for days, so I'm just gonna leave it there. Also, I would give almost anything for Leigh to write more books about the Ketterdam crew, I WANT IT SO MUCH!!!! Interactions between Kaz and Inej's parents would be AWESOME! Maybe Kaz, Inej, Jesper, and Wylan could go to Ravka and see Nina again, or they could all team up again to fight against the Shu soldiers! Can you tell I REALLY want more of these characters? XD

Yes, I need more stories of this crew! Kaz Brekker surprises me every time and he is freaking amazing! My favourite scene was probably the final fight between Inej and White Blade. Also, when he bluffs that Pekka's son was buried alive lol And the entire second-last chapter of the book lol And the one in which the Wraith (Inej) threatens Pekka Rollins (at the very end) (Also when jesper's dad breaks up the fight between Kaz and Jesper) There are a whole lot more but then I'd be writing the whole book down lol. And the second part of chap 39 and chap 40 broke me to bits. Matthias did not deserve to die :( Okay this is long, I'm gonna stop now lol (Also, "Scheming face?" "Definitely." YES)

ugh I loved this book to death! I remember finishing it and just staring at the ceiling, bawling my eyes out. what stood out to me was wylan's character development throughout the entirety of the duology. seeing his character grow and accept his own flaws just made my heart melt - this has quickly become one of my favorite series of all time
@Sullyy15
@Sullyy15 5 жыл бұрын
For me I think the scene that stood out the most was when Wylan found out *spoiler* that his mom was alive. When he met her again, and he was left alone with her and he played her the flute it broke my heart because I couldn’t begin to imagine what pain he was going through with trying to comprehend that his mom was alive and it was his father’s fault that she was sent away, and that she couldn’t recognize Wylan, and her trying to tell them that she was a VAN ECK! When they showed Wylan and Jesper the paintings and they were all of young Wylan it made me realize how much Van Eck has taken from her. Her own husband had taken away her only son, her everything. And when Wylan went outside with Jesper and he said to Jesper “Remember when I said my father wasn’t a bad person?” and then he fell on the floor and started crying, I literally was sobbing during that scene. Wylan came from a broken family with a mentally abusive father who tried to kill him and abandoned him and a mother who he just now found out was alive! I love that Jesper just told him that his father would pay, and he reminded Wylan that they are doing this job to take down people like his father. This was such an amazing scene, and the interaction between the two characters was amazing, and how Jesper managed to keep Wylan’s spirits hopeful was amazing. Well done Leigh. Well done

Okay so what I want is a third book (obviously) where Kaz and Inej sail the seas and stop slavers, and Jesper (who's still struggling with his gambling addiction) and Wylan (who is being taught by Jesper how to read) adopt Nina in order to help her deal with the loss of Matthias and the addiction... but then she remembers Matthias's dying wishes and the three of them go out to find the druskelle and teach them about the Grisha. And the entire thing is just that. Kaz and Inej chatting and fighting etc, Wylan and Jesper being generally adorable while trying to keep Nina away from parem, while journeying through Fjerda. And then Nina would leave Jesper and Wylan and go out on her own, because it's her duty, not theirs, and she has no right to put them in danger. And she can meet the kid that killed Matthias, and she can stop herself from killing him because THAT"S NOT WHAT MATTHIAS WOULD WANT and it would be amazing. Meanwhile Jesper and Wylan have their own problems (not so sure about that yet but whatever). It wouldn't even have to have a really solid plot. Like, honestly, I don't even need any of this. Just some good solid fighting and shooting and stuff, and lots of them sitting around and talking. Or just a book. They can just sit in circles, I DON'T CARE.

My favourite (and most heartbraking) scenes where the ones about Wylan's past, and what he discovers about her mother, I love his character and it hurted so much and at the same time it was such a powerful moment. I also loved when inej says "I will have you with no armour or I wont have you at all", plus when Kaz tells her he would have rescued no matter what, and Matthia's last chapter, when he gets home knowing that Nina is safe 💔💔

I love how you explained it so well(while you also fangirled about everything like me😂). My least favorite scene tho was when Matthias got hurt and-and--- I can't say it without tearing up. I love this channel, it's really great and I love seeing other people's perspective on books that I've read. Also, I wish Leigh Bardugo could make a third book[even tho it's a duology] becuz I feel as if Bardugo didn't explain enough for me, and that more is *supposed* to happen. Maybe I just like it too much. Maybe I just want a third book. Maybe after this I'll write a fan fiction becuz it's the closest thing I can have to a third book.

The part where Inej is injured and Kaz is fixing her bandages and her shoulder is revealed, that scene for me was so impactful. We watch the battle of Kaz with touch and want for touch. We see him try and get absolutely fried by how his body and mind were completely ruined by the firepox and the outcome of Jordi's death. Every gentle part of Kaz was killed that awful night, but in this scene we see him try to reach and find it again. But it is blocked by the trauma of what happened and that is so sad. Kaz is the essence of a weapon, he has different drives from people we are used to, his main focus is to get revenge with Pekka and so when we watch him try to carve a route of normalcy, a route back to who he was before he died in the barge emotionally, to watch it fall apart and still be such an internal conflict, is unbelievably poetic and heartbreaking. Kaz is a survivor but the parts of him Inej searches for did not.

One of my favorite things was actually in regards to Kuwei, especially in the last third of the book I felt like he was finally given his due. To be honest he was one of the most underrated, in the sense that he arguably had the shittiest journey of all the characters. His dad died, he was held prisoner multiple times, he had to move countries multiple times, he was in the middle of a lot of violence, and was almost always with people he didnt know. Yes, one could say that they all had hard times which is true. However a key distinction is the amount of control he had. Kuwei had almost no control over what happened. In this whole series he was basically a pawn being used by people. And crooked kingdom acknowledged this in a few points towards the end. Plus he was younger then all the other characters, and less accustomed to this kind of life. There were so many small moments throughout the series where the characters would be in a tense moment, and almost all of them kept their composure and didnt appear to be phased, but kuwei would always be distressed. I thought it was a very powerful moment when kuwei came back to consciousness in the canal and asked what happened, and then burst into tears. It was such a release. I was like, damn man, so true. Its been a long road.
