I love this: "A Ghafa never performs with a net," Inej said indignantly. "Does a Ghafa frequently perform twenty stories above cobblestones after being held prisoner for a week?" (Nina) "There will be a net," said Kaz. "It's in place behind the silo guardhouse already, under a stack of saddlebags." The silence in the tomb was sudden and complete. Inej couldn't believe what she was hearing. "I don't need a net." Kaz consulted his watch. "Didn't ask."

I hadn't slept the whole night and I had read the books back to back and i was ACTUALLY SOBBING like, that never happens. Matthias's last words made me feel so upset. I was crying. And then after Nina says " Farvell. May Djel watch over you until I can once more." Like, noooo that made me cry more. Then, Matthias's last chapter. Oh Saints. I found out something: Leigh Bardugo said that Matthias was killed by his younger self. Saints, so sad. (Bye she knew from the start that Matthias would die at the end. She knew she knew she knew) :(

I personally read six of crows & crooked kingdom before Shadow and Bone, and I'm quite happy about it. If I would've started with the Grisha trilogy, I think I would've stopped. I really didn't enjoy shadow and bone, while soc & crooked kingdom are now two of my all time favs. Also: Yes, I need some spin-offs, too. But I need one for each of them. I'm just not ready to let these characters go 😥

THAT'S EXACTLY ME WITH THE CAT!! I loved this review of yours. :) I'm so hyped up after finishing CK this past weekend, and I CANNOT STOP loving these characters and wanting more. The ending left me feeling empty thinking there wouldn't be anymore, but I must hold onto the hope. Everyone seems to want more so maybe Leigh will oblige? ;A; But the ending also left me so happy, and I literally raced through the end of the book. I couldn't put it down. I was so sad & then immediately jumping out of my chair at the end. Anytime I put the book down to eat or something I was just so full of energy and excitement haha. :') I need more of this world!! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much as well. :) This is probably my favorite book now! I haven't had a "new" favorite book since middle school! (I'm 21 now.)

I read Six of crows and Crooked kingdom, but do I have to read the grisha trilogy to understand King of Scars?
@BlackCat1374
@BlackCat1374 5 жыл бұрын
Jinan Natsheh No, you don't. There will be stuff that you will most likely understand better if you've read the Grisha triology, but as Leigh Bardugo herself stated: She's trying to make every book easy enough for the people who have read neither of those. So no, don't need to read it. But in Crooked Kingdom you've already seen some cameos which were pretty epic if you knew these characters. So in the end it's up to you to decide. :)

that's the best part of this duology. the characters. The plotline is amazing as well, but with YA books for me it somehow always loses one over the other, like plot over characters or vice versa. but with Six of crows duology, it was just perfect in every aspect except the fact that it shouldnt have ended T^T !!! The characters were SO beautiful, their relationship to each other and as a group urghh .. and ofcourse. KAZ. damn. the boy got me shook. and I dont get as attached to male leads as i did with kaz. perfect. I actually need a kaz and inej spin off in addition to nina and nikoli hehe

I adore this book with everything I am. I loved every little thing about it and if given the chance, I could talk about it for hours and hours and hours. I love how this story wrapped up, I felt like it was so well done and the characters all went through so much and they all grew from it and I really hope we see them again in future books. PS: I love these spoilery discussions, especially because you get so into it, it's really wonderful to see.

Loved the discussion part, Hailey ❤ I totally agree. This sequel is phenomenal! And a Nina - Nikolaj spin off is a great idea. I'm kind of sure Leigh Bardugo is going to do something with Nina in the future, since she said she's going to write more books in the Grisha universe and I think she didn't leave us with such an open ending without a reason 😉 In my opinion it's better to have read the Grisha trilogy before the Six of Crows duology in case you really want to understand the magic system. (Otherwise it doesn't matter, I think.)

a lot of people say that we don't need to read the Grisha Trilogy before SoC but didn't we get spoiled about Alina getting martyred!!? Who'd want to pick up a series if they already know that the main character dies in the end? I don't want to read Shadow and Bone trilogy now. But I might pick it up in future just to read more about Nikolai.

My favorite parts of the book included pages 1-536. Also, I think that if you are considering reading this book before the shadow and bone trilogy, you should know that it won't spoil or worsen your experience with the duology whatsoever, but you may miss a few Easter eggs and hints. I personally think that reading the shadow and bone trilogy before is a good idea. Btw, loved the review Hailey!!!!!

Musfirah Batool I started reading Six of crows without having read the grisha trilogy because I was too lazy to read 3 books before SOC 😊 At first I was a little confused but throughout the books things become clearer. I think it would be great to read the grisha trilogy but I wouldn't say it absolutely necessary 😀

In my opinion, much like the other people who have replied, it doesn't make a huge difference. I like to read things in chronological order so I enjoyed reading the trilogy first but it is not necessary to understand the duology. You just will recognize certain characters/different things from the trilogy that show up in the duology. Hope this helped! 💜
