I got saved after watching this movie in March 28, 1979. I was 19 years old and I will never forget it.

I’ve been an atheist for a long time but this story moves me deeply. It’s never too late to turn from a dark life and embrace the light.

I first saw this movie while living at the Walter Hoving Home for Recovering Addicts. This movie is a masterpiece and true testimony of what God can do for anyone.

Read the book in my teens. Watched the movie in my early twenties, after I was born again in my thirties I wanted to make a trip to New York and meet David Wilkerson 😢, but he was in that crash and passed away before I could arrang it. I'm in my fifties now. Just talked with my youngest daughter about the impact the book, The Cross and the Switchblade, by David Wilkerson had on my life. What do ya know, its Friday, Jan 29th, 2021 and I'm crying as I just finished watching the movie on U tube, after it appeared in my feed. 😊 . I'll be in my sixties in a few more years and then, well tomorrow belongs to God. All I know is where I'm going when he says come hither. Whether I'm alive or sleeping in the earth I'll hear my bride grooms voice, Jesus my Lord and I hope for that day.

I've finished reading the book and now I'm here. God have done amazing things in my life and I will praise him forever. Amen.

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real it’s impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

In 1980 my mom dragged me to church to watch this movie, I was 18, I gave my life to Christ that night and have been blessed by pastor David’s messages all these years later

The book let me to Jesus as I was sitting in juvenile hall in 1967-68, I was 13-14. Never forgit it!

RIP David Wilkerson. He sowed the right seeds into the right fields. Now it has grown like ripe fruits ready to be fed to those who needed them.

I read The Cross and the Switchblade as a kid. I saw the movie for the first time today. My sister was murdered in NYC, involved with the wrong sort, and I went to a psychic seeking information detectives failed to deliver. The revelation shook me so bad that I broke down in the middle of the street. A stranger walking by, saw me, and asked to pray for me. She came from Pastor David Wilkerson's church at Times Square and invited me to attend. I never took up the offer. Watching this movie reminded me of that offer again. I don't know if the church is still active with this pandemic going on, and I'm really saddened to learn the pastor has died already. It would have been an honor to meet him in person. I have been feeling the call to return to church for the longest time.

After reading this book 20 years ago I started praying for kids like these and for all prisoners after two years of praying God open doors for me to help in prison fellowship then was asked to start going to prison to bring Jesus words how great is our God thank you Jesus

I read this book in prison and it changed my life! I was locked in segregation and had just started reading my Bible and I don't remember hoe I ended up with this book, but it was meant to be!

This is my first time seeing this movie. I had read and cherished the book when so was younger. Such an encouraging and amazing story of God's work! David Wilkerson was a humble vessel of Christ.

This movie brings me back to 1995, I attend a service one Sunday at Brooklyn Tabernacle Church. In that evening Nicky preached and shared testimony there.

I read the cross and the switchblade book and run baby run book about 10 times and that inspired me to work among the youth here in India.

It's been decades since I read "The Cross and the Switchblade!" The movie gives me renewed appreciation for David Wilkerson.

I remember reading the book given to me by nicky cruz. I wept. Later on in life I met him in a church in California and wow we I was blown away. My daughter went to biola a Christian university and met nicky'daugther there. They became friends. What a testimony. Thank you Lord is al I can say. Oh if you find the book read it it's way deeper then the movie. God bless you all

The message of Christ is timeless... This movie may seem outdated now- over 50 years after its making. But it was innovative in its time and paved the way for so much good- organizations, groups working with teens etc. The story of Nicky Cruz has changed so many lives and led many to Christ... That is all that should matter, not focusing on "corniness" etc.

God is trying to save me, I just need to listen closer, God Bless you all.

Little different to the book. But still astonishing is the work of the Holy Spirit who has still the same power. Till now Nicky Cruz is a new man in Christ and many found to the Lord through his service. Praise the LORD!

I graduated teen challenge maine about a year ago and god is bringing me into such a better life praise God for men and women such as Mr wilkerson god has used teen challenge to save my life and so so many any others and the road to finding our identity in him is endless..god bless you all

I have followed Nicky and David Wilkerson for years... Both men of Faith & integrity 'in the Lord' Wilkerson is now with our Lord...I met Nicky in a revival service years ago in Texas and am thankful God has used both men to further ....building HIS < Christ >Church..

I first saw this film in the late 1970s about a year or two after I got saved. It's message is as relevant today as it was then. 2nd Cor. 5 v 17.

I read the book The Cross and the Switchblade, that’s how David Wilkerson got started at Times Square church in New York. I have followed David Wilkerson through his ministry . He has never backed down from preaching sin ! What a true man of God. Nicky Cruz is now a preacher too. We need more preachers like him , most preachers won’t preach sin because of fear of losing people out of their church, too many preachers preaching a prosperity gospel only to enrich themselves & not help others. But God is exposing them. Keep your eyes upon Jesus, always be ready for his return . Praise & thank him for everything & tell others about the glorious gospel of Jesus. Maranatha’ 🙌🏻

It's hard to watch this. The biggest problem in society is the people that create these cities and keep these people slaves literally. If not for Gods intervention where would any of us be?

Saw David Wilkerson twice in the 70s & Nicky Cruz once. There was definitely an anointing on both their ministries. The second time I saw Wilkerson, he spoke of his marriage after his wife's hysterectomy & how hard it was for both of them. He helped win wars on many fronts with the Lord. Still an inspiration today.

Dear God! 50 years ago, my "Oh so Holy" roommates were all raving about this film! Guess they were even showing it at the Churches! Needless to say, I was too much of a Heathen to go!

I love David his teachings are purely if the Bible & he always kept it word for word & never changed it to suit himself. I’m sure David has stored up many treasures in Heaven. This movie came out 14 years before I was born and it touches my heart because it's so anointing and emotional in a positive way.

I have read this book and have watched this movie a few times. It's an AMAZING true story. It will truly move your Spirit. I believe it's one of Erik Estradas best performances ever as well. Father, I pray that everyone who watches this gets blessed and filled with Your Precious Holy Spirit ...🕇💙🕇..ask Jesus into your heart. He IS the way..the truth...and the life. Tears are flowing again.

It's been about 50 years since I saw this movie, read the books a few times. So amazed how good the actors were . And how the power of God fell and it is a great tribute to an awesome preacher and prophet of the one true God.

It was the book that caught my attention at 18. My friend also gave me a David Wilkerson tract. I kept it in my dresser drawer. I grew up in church but did not hear the gospel message so left church confused and not really believing. Seven years later I took that tract out once again and was convicted I needed to be saved. I'm so glad my friend introduced me to David Wilkerson. Jesus is Lord. Now I finally get to see the movie "The Cross and the Switchblade."

I got saved reading tthe book in 1972 after living thru race riots in my highschool for 3 yrs. Im 66 years old . I ve never turned back.The movie is kind of cheesy compared to now but Jesus has never changed.
