Crossing the Cabot Straights - Saying goodbye to winter sailing and Newfoundland! Report 24

We FINALLY depart Newfoundland bound for Nova Scotia. This was a trip we intended to do way back in November December last year - but alas the weather gods decided we would be better off in Newfoundland and the North Atlantic for some winter sailing! And boy what stories we were able to share! Living off grid of the coast of this remote feeling island was an exceptional experience and one we will never forget. We say goodbye to so MANY new and dear friends as we begin our journey south. In this week’s episode we try a new strategy with the Oceanvolt electric motors to get us through some of the Cabot Straight “doldrums”. During our crossing to Nova Scotia we experience almost 4 seasons in one day. We made exceptional time on the 130 mile crossing and surprisingly did it in about 25 hours - not bad for a heavy displacement steel expedition boat with electric motors and some well used sails! At the end of the episode we pay special tribute to Newfoundland and our wonderful New Found Friends (get it? ;-) ) we met along the way! Enjoy some epic scenery and views as we travelled around this magical and mysterious island during winter and spring 2022/2023!
