It makes it so much easier. And that has literally happened to me before. Just logged in to my presonus account and unregistered the computer from there.

Reaper is the only DAW I’ve not truly given a go yet. But I do know a couple of mixing engineers, who swear by it. I might have to download the trial and take it for a spin. Thank you for the positive comment. 😁

I actually had serious issues with the iLok and slate on my m1 macbook that stopped me from the trial of there stuff. I've heard they have amazing plugins but I may never know. lol

I seriously forgot to turn my WiFi on for my computer and it wouldn’t let me open protools. I remember thinking, “man this would suck if I didn’t have internet all the time”. Lol

...and that was the final straw when I switched 100% from PT to S1 and didn't look back. It was Avid's screw-up too. I renewed my support plan and had all kinds of problems registering it well before expiration, just like previous years since they went to that model. Used up my one-time support ticket just to be talked down to by Avid support (lowly home-studio, they don't have time for non-pros) and the ticket closed without resolution. No response from Avid when I tried to reopen. Customer support said I didn't have a support plan, I'm stuck with the forums. After the prrevious year's plan ultimately expired and things stopped working, I got Sweetwater support involved, and they contacted Avid the same day and boom, working again. EXCEPT... The "special" bonus plugins from when they first transitioned to this update model didn't work. I contacted Avid once more. Their response? "You shouldn't have let your plan expire!" I had active projects using those plugins, which I decided I would rather re-mix in S1 at that point, and I only opened PT once since, to bounce a client's project. If that's still Avid's game, then fu-get them, forever. S1 has made my life so much better anyway. Very few PT features do I miss.

@@AVDRE crazy? Maybe. I say SNEAKY!!! What other DAW do you buy, and then a year later, they say, oh if like the plugins , now you have to “buy” those as well. I mean. Subscribe to them. Yearly

I run both mac and PC and I 100% agree with that. Ran way smoother back in the day on my mac.

What do you love about it?

Me too. Never understood the hate and haven't had a problem. It's easy to authorize new installs or work on an alternate computer just by plugging and un-plugging the lock. I use PT and Nuendo. Nuendo authorization has been a pain.

@@schoepsms Same here. I use Nuendo and have about 400 licenses on ilok. I mean I would prefer unlimited activations on ilok rather than the dongle, but the dongle at least allows me to always have all of my plugins activated if I use a different computer

I have a good friend who uses reaper and absolutely loves it. I’ve not produced a song in it just yet so I’m not too familiar with the work flow.

@@joshuabutlermusic Well Reaper really don't have any workflow, it so customizable you can make any workflow you want in it.

Had pro tools for years and now I'm studio one and never going back.
