This is a great video JB. And thanks for explaining in depth about the difference between spaced armor and thick armor. My favorite part was how you showed the real life applications of spaced armor and thick armor on tanks. I didn't even know that was a real thing. :)

Glad you enjoyed my video and spaced armor is still used today on armored vehicles. The armies that can afford it have way cooler ones now high tech spaced armor

Yeah it works better then most people think. It doesn't make your build look cool but it will protect you.

That's because it increases distance between parts meaning the aoe doesn't reach additional parts. Point of damage weapons will apply damage the same regardless.

I have seen spaced armor kinda like multiple birdcages build into each other those work pretty good against everything.

i try it and yes you right it works well with small cabins i think some bullets just pass by making no damage but canon bullets from up-down destroy your car like a pile of cards.i play this game on ps4 mainly,my nick is manowarluso1 im level 30-17 engineer hope to see you there im going to subscribe to you this right moment :) and survivor have a long and fun life..........you got the skills :)

Honestly, layered armor can work miracles, even against explosives. You just gotta use parts from your weight category that have a good blast resistance (engineers, scavengers, steppenwolves) Then you start by fitting the biggest pieces around your cabin and equipments, making the spaces in between them fit smaller pieces. Swap another layer of medium pieces, in a way that they all are in contact with at least two others. Fit around the wheels for protection, one good ramming part at he front, you're good to go I learned to like the armor part of the building, because otherwise it would be the most boring. But you can make very cool stuff with classic looking vehicles !

There's a lot of people out there who need to hear that, i think they didn't get the memo 🤣 Hey, since you're here, could you make a video about heavy builds in low PS ? I feel like newer players never really use the trucker cabin (Only growl, wyvern and the upgrades), and i tried a melee/skinner build with it, under 4699 it absolutely DOMINATES ! 2500 HP, max speed 74km/h, and it moves absolutely EVERYTHING. You can even throw enemies in pits...or teammates actually ! I published the build if you want to gheck it out, it's called the "Big Rusty" Great job on the video, as usual. I love crossout, thanks for your work bro 💯

9:07 ERA does not effect kinetic energy projectiles (i.e. anti-tank rounds). it's purpose is to defeat HEAT rounds by breaking their warhead's effect spaced armor is also effective against HEAT rounds by making them explode further from the target, making their warhead less effective. Back when High Explosive tank rounds were in use as an anti-tank weapon (up until the 50's or so), spaced armor was also effective against them. that's probably why the German Panzer tanks had it spaced armor and ERA (at least from early generations) has very little effect against kinetic energy rounds

Cant belive people dont know that ...... this explains alot + if the spalsh dmg is alot space armor will deal will absorb most of the dmg 2 to your vehicle Great Video man.

Experience of me, a crossout player who just absorbs all attention from enemies with seemingly large builds that have massive holes: Cannon? I'm okay. Grenadier? I'm still okay. A chord? **Dying noises**

I always build way to high ps builds for the tier weapons I have but they give me 80 parts damnit I'm using all 80 parts to make a big thick boi with tiny guns

I agree with your vid on the effectiveness of spaced armor. One disclaimer though that should be mentioned is that spaced armor is usually only effective against high explosive weapons with high single shot damage (cannons/rockets/missles ~scorpions). Against machine guns/ shotguns/nonexplosive mele this is noneffective as these weapons have a high dps output and enough damage to 2-3 shot armor panels off and thus ripping off all of the spaced armor in seconds. This is why having a combo of spaced and thick armor is a good balance unless you know what the opponent is bringing (ie CW). also side question, have you noticed what the min offset distance is for spaced armor being impacted by a tsu is? People tell me 4 dots, but want to see if i can more closely space my armor for a more compacted design.

Hi i did mention it in the video at some point. And it's different for all cannons. The devs play around a lot with the explosion radius and damage of the cannons so i can't really tell, but it did look like the tsu has a range of 4 squares

Don't know why but this reminds me of Triforcing from Robocraft in the past. Although it uses the opposite logic as you want damage spread to as few parts as possible. Albeit I wonder, does this even work against Scorpions, though?

The best against scorpions is the stack your armor or use plows. I have a video called 4k monster where i went up against 2 scorpion build and my stacked Armour helped a lot

yeah for fast builds it's way better but i run mostly heavy builds and use weapons which get a benefit from the colossus

The thick armor would be for light explosions and heavy machine guns, the spaced armor would be good for heavy cannon fire (because it’s spaced out) and a little mini gun fire

Armoring is complicated in this game, and people yet find a way to exploit things like pass through damage parts. my way of armoring is placing vehicle structure armor under my cabin, so i can take more shots and be small so its more difficult to hit.

i have been trying to build a truck that is fast but also do a lot of damage so far i have the CORPS DRAGGER but i have a problum i can turn easly but i am thinking about useing armord tank wheels but i do not have the tank wheels yet would you try my truck out with the tank wheels so i can see what it will do please ?

The build you have is not optimized, you have a autocannon which is a sniper and then 2 shotguns which are close range. those shotguns wont work well with tracks try adding 2 more twin tires. have a total of 4 st for the front and back and 2 non st for the middle of your build. If you have 2 autocannons that would work great with tracks. plus your wasting you train plow on your build it's not protecting anything. I can't make a video with your build because i don't have auto cannons anymore but check my video of me using the goblins with tracks or the autocannon with tracks. other shotguns won't really work. If you need more help just ask and i'll check what i can do for you

Is it a strat to put ur cab in front and make ur health pool super big so people are more likely to only shoot your cab to protect modules and guns or does health drain to fast

Only works with cohort cabin in a group or ermak cabin. cabin in the front is okay but i don't use that strat. the cabins i mentioned have dmg resistance perks so they can deal with direct dmg

@@JBRider oh word my account was hacked and my entire storage was sold and all my coins spent but I've been grinding and I got the growl and the trucker back and I tried that strategy with the trucker had all the guns in the flatbed and circled people

well most players make spaced armor for explosion that usually travel 4 blocks so just keep that in mind while making it. i personally try to always use 2block because most pieces are already 1 or 2 blocks big

I only use spaced armor on my Invasion builds. Its a smart idea but I never see anyone do this outside of Invasion

Spaced armor is vastly superior to thick armor since AoE weapons exist, but are easier to dismantle if you do it wrong and make you a bigger target.

Yeah from what i have seen hovers benefit greatly from this i have not mastered it on hovers yet but on hovers it's effective against cannon fire and machine gun /shotgun fire if it's build correctly

It works on all builds, but works best on hovers since they got superior rotational ability so they can stack armor in one point and use that to tank damage.

People can easily just shoot off the things attached to the armor. You just may be fighting a lot of cannons. Definitely regular placed armor.

Yes, in clan wars players usually have dual mammoths so this is very good fighting them. It also works in normal pvp it's just that players have all sorts of weapons then. but a well placed spaced armor could be the difference in a cricket volley killing you or saving your life.

Maybe spaced armor is effective against explosions etc., but I'm not gonna ever use it, because it simply looks horrible.

Yeah looks bad but trust me it helps against cannons and rockets, you will see all top clans using it because it's a must if you wanna keep your build alive as long as you can.
