@@empty3293 A normal shot put field in an athletics stadium can accommodate throws well beyond that distance.

While I know that records are there to be broken, I don't think a 24m shot put will ever be seen... Kinda like you won't see an 8 second 100m sprint... It's just not humanly possible to go that much faster. All the current records are starting to represent near the absolute limit... but putting 0.5m more might be bit too much to ask. I mean the increase of arc that it would require would take enormously more power behind the ball than what Crouser did there, and that's already insanity level where he's at right now.

Awotunde isn't going to begin to sniff such heights. Kovacs though, I'm hoping for him to break 23m multiple times this season.

@@TheOriginalGankstar well, he's currently not in the conversation. But he's increased his best with each passing season on average by about a foot. He'll be knocking on 23m soon enough if he can keep it up. Ryan will still be ahead, Joe too, but the gap will be narrower.

Didn't most world class venues extend out the long jump pit after Beamon? I want to say for that exact reason - because an explosion like Beamon could happen, and would be a shame it not count.

It would be easier to increase the mass of the shotput, they did that with the Jav a while ago when the best throws started getting too large for the venues.

There's a guy by the name of Jan Zelezny - javelin thrower. There was a time when he kept progressing to the point where the infield was too small for him. They had to make a change to the weight of the javelin from that point on because they couldn't make the infields any bigger. Most mortal men throw within the white chalk. Crouser is not a mere mortal. They'll have to extend the marks for shot put JUST for this guy.
