My mother in law dug out some of her old vinyl and she had two records by the 2nd chapter of acts. Really interesting stuff and a real mixture. Sleeve notes were great too as they had notes on the gear he used for each song.

@@CrowboroughGuitarTuition Ahhh…..2nd Chapter of Acts, one of my favorite all time groups. Their harmony is as tight as Phil's playing. I remember them when they first hit the "Jesus music" scene back in the late 60's, early 70's, blew me away and still does to this day.

@@CrowboroughGuitarTuition Yes, do check them out if you can. They are different than the improvisational jams he does in pieces like Shades of Green; they're more like songs with a clearer structure and melody, and so you might appreciate the composer side of him. He is definitely very humble, and in the nearly 10 concerts I've seen him in, he also shows a dry, self-deprecating sense of humor.

Must have been great to meet him. I imagine he's used to people being a bit starstruck!

I know Phil enjoys playing that one but it is one of the few songs that always seems to turn up 3/4 of the way into his sets and I still don't like it.

well, id say "good" is not even close, subjective or not. Hes a great guitarist. period. There are few, if any, who have the enormous scope and can sing like Phil does. He is a one of a kind musician. Not the best, because no one is the best of course, but by his sheer ability to cross styles with ease, certainly somewhere in a small elite of musicians who care not so much for success, but for satisfaction, quality and creativity. God bless Phil and all like him.
