That's shallow thinking and ageist. The people who need jobs are more than 10 times the ones you want to retire. And do you think you'll want to retire at 55 when 60% of Kenyans earn less than 50K and have to make up for your years of unemployment and underemployment? Or do you think you'll be the one earning 500K and can invest in retirement? Think harder. What the country needs is to grow the economy. To have enough jobs for most people, and well paying jobs. Stop discriminating against senior citizens who still want to work and have the competence. Very soon you too will be one.

IPOA needs a force of law requiring police to hand over any evidence or information required by it. It has to be made a criminal offense for a law enforcement officer to refuse to hand over any info or evidence within a stipulated timeframe and the commissioner should also be held liable to enforce this order. In the west police are not supposed to handle any preliminary investigation in cases involving them and are required by law to preserve the scene untill the independent policing authority (IPO) arrives least they destroy evidence.

IPOA needs to be restructed, devolved, divorced from political influence and fully equipped and funded. But even before ipoa, we need to completely overhaul our Kenya Police Service. And a good starting point would be the policy framework. Depoliticize the police and ensure they have a Kenya Police Union, to champion their welfare.
