Not sure how I missed this build, but I’m more bummed that I missed out on the opportunity to donate during the process. Unfortunately, the need for donations is still very much there. I was hopeful that this mess would be resolved by now. I have no ties with either Ukraine or Russia. The closest I come is a former colleague who is from Belarus (now a U.S. citizen and a brilliant firefighter/paramedic here in Florida). Regardless, I want to thank everyone there at Crimson guitars for stepping up and having the stones to take both a public stance on the invasion of Ukraine and for taking action in the most meaningful and helpful way you possibly could. Good on ya, brother! Let us all hope and pray and do whatever else we can to help our Ukrainian AND Russian friends who want to see the hostilities come to a very rapid end. Also…absolutely brilliant wood working and design as usual.

PPE is a mixed blessing. As you said, sometimes it is essential but there are times where the PPE could help but can also hinder the work. I work in a lab with some really nasty (sometimes fatal) chemicals. Sometimes I feel safer working with the fatal chemicals without PPE, because I can feel what is happening and where things are. I have faith that you know, full well, where you need to use PPE or not. Keep strong brother, and you r passion to help the people is Ukraine is beyond admirable!

Hopefully, since you have the time, you will honor this country, and build a proper CNC'd ''coat of arms" with proper colors and silver trident 12th fret inlay. I also suggest you make resin 2mm dots for the fretboard in blue, and yellow; blue at the top for the first positions, and yellow after the coat of arms at the bottom with yellow, small subtle touch. You can also make a 4 mm yellow and center dot a blue inside, for standard center inlay dot. The build is beautiful thus far, it would be a shame to not go all out when you have the opportunity and tools at your disposition.

@GroovingDrums
@GroovingDrums 2 жыл бұрын
No one in their right mind would try to build a sturdy long lasting workbench - atleast from scratch - in a one day build, even a week is kind of a stretch. Just the dressing of the wood would take a day or two, depending on the design and stuff. Gluing together the legs and top, you got another day, then handplaining the top and legs, cutting and chisseling, routing for the vices etc.. And yes, I am speaking of a real beast of a workbench that wouldn't move a millimeter if you hang on just one side :) but I think Ben should go for it, he deserves a sturdy beast of a bench at this time! :) As much is I enjoy making fun of Buns capabilities to estimate how long one thing would take, I am pretty sure he won't go with 1 day build not even 1 week build in this case :)

I think it was suggested on stream and the response was staining brown wood yellow is hard and wouldn't colour match the flag closely enough, and fade over time. But that was also when it was still a 1-day target. Maybe now its over-run anyway, white veneer and uv-stable topcoat is possible. Even if it's only the truss rod cover. 🤔

It was something like £4,500 in superchats at the end of day-1 stream. Second stream soon. Once you've bought a raffle ticket you can see how many tickets have sold. Currently 3376 x £2.50 = £8,440. A smidge under £13k headline at the mo, before raffall+KZfaq platform tax and other costs etc. And still about a week to go. A viewer at Google was trying to get the yt superchat tax waived. The DEC appeal hit £200m so the £25m of matched funding from UK gov is already oversubscribed, but maybe they increase the limit. The net proceeds from the Crimson effort could jump around dramatically (or double!) if those other factors change.

@@Anonoize"why didn`t your organizations and whatevers do something to made Ukrainian regime stop terrorize its own people in the East of the country? It lasted 8 years , just for the record. Have you ever thought about it?" I've thought about many conflicts all around the world, and the innocent civilian casualties from all militarised conflict. So I support charities that provide humanitarian aid to whoever is in need of food, water, shelter, medical treatment regardless of which dubious political figure claims to represent them. The humanitarian "organisations and whatevers" (that this raffle is funding) exist to help civilian victims deal with the outcome of wars and disasters. It's the job of international politicians to pressure regimes and stop abhorrent crimes, not the humanitarian charities. Are you still denying there is any need for that humanitarian effort to help civilians on a large scale right now in Ukraine? Have you ever thought about how delusional that makes you look? You want us to turn a blind eye and not help because you think it's somehow fair reprisal for suffering in the east of Ukraine?! That's not how humanitarianism works. Not feeding and sheltering refugees from the west of Ukraine won't improve the situation in the east. "An eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind" - Gandhi.

@@CrimsonCustomGuitars Political bias was the incorrect phrase. I am sorry for that. It is far more complex. I am dismayed at the entire situation, but so little attention is paid to the fact that the current conflict has roots that stretch back nearly a decade, and involve nearly the same set of combatants. Russia has long advocated, however self-servingly, for those in Eastern Ukraine who have historically called themselves ethnically Russian separatists, and whom the Ukraine government, under various administrations, has labeled terrorists. Nearly 15000 people had already died in the Donbas conflict, internal to Ukraine, before Russians set foot in Ukraine proper (Crimea is a different, equally bad, but related story). There was active trench warfare in Ukraine since 2016. The silence on (and general ignorance of) the effects of this conflict, both in terms of the overall loss of life and in terms of cultural and economic devastation is stark in comparison to the sudden global mobilization to feed weapons and money into Ukraine, as if it had no blood on its hands at all. Ben, I have watched your channel for a long time, and I don't need to know you personally to know you are a man of integrity, and that you have excellent intentions, which I support. I am simply so frustrated that (too) many people are not educated in the history of what is happening. A generally more jaundiced eye, I suppose, is what I wish would be the prevailing stance, however that might cause people be less charitable to those who suffer most. This a case of two bullies, in terms of state entities, with people caught between them (war, definition of), and I guess so long as the money raised can be guaranteed to go food, shelter, other necessities, or to help people flee certain death, then I'm in. I'm jaded, simple as, perhaps to a fault. I'm sorry.
