Crown Victoria alternator replacement (what the other videos don't show)

A 100% complete start-to-finish replacement of an alternator on a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria. The. Entire. Dirty. Truth. It's a "half-hour job".
You'll only need a 10mm and 8mm socket. Plus a 3/8" drive ratchet or bar to manipulate the tensioner.
The steps should be near identical for any 1992+ Panther car (Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, or Lincoln Town Car).

I replaced my alternator and belt on my 08 crown victoria P71 a few months ago. Took me 20min. Then again I work as a machine operator, these cars are simple. I can't believe you actually removed those bottom bolts lol.

try also cleaning your battery terminals once in a while LOL

First of all, good that you got an autozone...because the Motorcraft rebuilts have a 90% chance of NOT working. On the other hand, the alternators have SLOTS rather than holes on the bottom, so you DON'T have to remove the two bottom bolts.... I've changed a lot of these.....NEVER removed the bottom bolts to do so.....and you can use a small bungee cord to hold the belt up while you do so. Moreover, the mountings slightly changed for the 2003-2011 model years, when the Intakes went to PI.

Yes, way easier to take that top bracket off, loosen the lower bolts and just lift the alternator out

I'm on my third AutoZone alternator. I gotta swap it out again today. Sold me a dud, sold me one that wont charge properly. Here goes the third.

@@improvisedchaos8904 Quite possible that the re-manufacturer got a batch of dud regulators, just like Ford did.

Once a year is good on cleaning the battery terminals. Use some terminal protector spray and you will never have any build up on there again.

your go pro is aimed a little high and makes it hard to see when you get close up, especially when you're working in the back, other then that thanks, i don't know if i would have figured out the tensioner arm myself
