You forgot about the open casebacks, thats one part of Nomos that many do enjoy. I don't think Nomos would be what it is today without the open casebacks. Maybe do a part 2 with some good macros showing the different movements.

@@satchelyork sorry but a modern seiko movement is quite boring to look at. They are not decorated or anything. The nomos use real heat blued screws and decorate their movements (albeit with machines and not by hand).

@@satchelyork You may prefer a steel caseback because you have yet to experience the absolute beauty of a more expensive watch where the movement is HIGHLY finished and decorated. It's such a joy to look at and experience. You can look at it with a loop and explore it for hours. I'm not kidding.

Thank you for the review of Nomos & their history. I bought my first Nomos watch last month & the more I see & learn about them, the more convinced I will own a number of them in the coming years. The new Orion with gold & silver dials are stunningly beautiful, as is the Tangente Neomatik 39 Silvercut. It's always very nice to buy such quality at affordable prices, Nomos certainly falls into this category.

I'm considering getting one as a gift to myself when I graduate college this next semester. I'm afraid it will be too dressy to wear daily though. @@Gabe_Dewey It’s definitely not a sports watch, but I only took 3 watches on a 3 week trip and I found myself wearing it the most! It goes great with any casual/dress wear. Just not sports wear. @Gabe_Dewey 2 жыл бұрын
@@secretsanta9046 Thanks! Glad to hear you love yours! I actually went to my local Nomos AD to see one in person and it was 25% off. I loved it. Then he pulled out an Original Tangente Sport that has been discontinued and I loved it. 100m water resistance and has a more platinum grey-colored dial. With it on sale and being rare I loved it. He said sometimes Nomos holds on to some models for a really long time then will eventually give them out to sell. I decided to pull the trigger a little early haha. When I was checking out he said "this is going to blow your mind, this watch was made in 2001," I thought that was really cool, and being brand new it seems crazy. Then when I got home I realized 2001 is probably before Nomos had their full in-house movements. It also has a closed case back so I can't see it. I'm probably overthinking but that kind of ruined the excitement for me and long story short, I've kept it in the box and debated whether he'll let me exchange it for the Orion. The Orion looks amazing with the open case back and is much slimmer than this model and fits so well on my wrist. Basically, I'm having buyer's remorse and can't decide if I made the right choice. if you actually read that, thanks for coming to my ted talk lol
@secretsanta9046

@@Gabe_Dewey I don’t see why they wouldn’t let you trade it for another watch if that’s what you decide, I would go for whichever one makes you smile more when you look at the dial and not worry to much about the movement in-house or not. Either way congrats again on ur graduation and the new watch! Cheers 🍻

A great super fast very educational review of the brand, thanks you. After considering the Club (the closest to a 'regular' watch) , the Tangente (great case but not sure about the numbers) and Metro (Not a fan of the syringe style hands) I finally decided on the Ludwig 36mm Neomatik, OK it's a compromise as most watches are. I was a tad concerned that the 36mm would be lost on my over 7" wrist but that minimal bezel and slim case depth means it wears more like a 39, I took a chance on the purchase online having not been able to see or try the watch due to COVID and I'm very pleased that I did, definitely a keeper. Great watch and I love the display case back.

I have a white Ahoi date, Club Atlantic Date, Autobahn with blue band, and a smaller hand wind breast cancer edition, the last for my daughter and bought it pre owned for a good price. And looked unused from and through a youtuber whom I know both and trust. My wife recently passed from breast cancer and covid and bought it for my daughters to ware. Maybe but in no rush an Orion. I live in NJ by the ocean and go boating on the Barnegat bay with friends and family it's nice to know both the Ahoi and Club Atlantic (200M) can handle a pool or falling into the bay. Only downside, I usually change the bands. Usually to leather from the fabric strap, haven't done it on the Autobahn yet. I read somewhere that many of the workers, makers at Lange wear Nomos watches. My three favorite watch brands that I can afford, is Nomos, Sinn and Stowa. I also know Nomos makes corporate editions with German companies, like Sieman's etc...

Thank you. I just tried a couple in the store. I have my eye on a Nomos Gangreserve Datum. Minimalist, but not too minimal. And complications. We need complications. And it's a bit less serious, not quite as austere as some of the other models. And something that doesn't show up in pictures or descriptions: the long, straight lugs of the Tangente felt like a popsicle stick on the wrist.; the Metro wore much more comfortably.

I've had a Tangente Gangreserve for over 2 yrs now and it's my favorite in a nice collection of 7. My next purchase will be a Metro Silvercut - another totally unique Nomos thing. I love the unique power reserve on the Tangente also. They are very special watches, the fit and finish is remarkable at this price, I know of no other manufacturers with this level of quality both on the case and in the movement. I often hear people say Nomos is overpriced which is a clear indictor they don't understand or can't appreciate exemplary quality in fit and finish on a watch. @@anthraxabun No worries. I've got three Nomos, my current favourite is an Orion 38 in midnight blue.

Hey Luisao R, The manual wind is a more traditional Nomos, but we love what they're doing with the Neomatik line so we lean that direction.

As a first time watch buyer, does anyone have long term experience with the Tangente Sport neomatik? While I like Nomos design, some of the comments I've seen about their offerings simply not being reliable worries me. The low profile on their watches is nice and all, but if it breaks down or easily gets magnetized, why even bother?

I'd love to know this too. Just about to pull the trigger on the Tangente Sport.

TLDR, just get a NOMOS CLUB, TANGENTE and ORION and you've got a perfect 3 watch collection that will cover all situations.
