********************************************************
Avoiding Babylon was started during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. During these difficult and dark days, when most of us were isolated from family, friends, our parishes, and even the Sacraments themselves, this channel was started as a statement of standing against the tyrannical mandates that many of us were living under. Since those early days, this channel has morphed into an amazing community of friends…no…more than friends…Christian brothers and sisters…who have grown in joy and charity.
Avoiding Babylon does not criticize the hierarchy or institutional Church, especially Pope Francis. We recognize there is an unprecedented crisis in the Church, but we feel that there are other shows that address these issues that are more qualified than us. Instead, we try to remind ourselves and those who enjoy the channel that being Catholic is a joyful and exciting experience. We seek true Catholic fraternity and eutrapelia with other Catholics who, like us, are doing their best to live out their vocation with the help of God’s Grace. Above all, we try to bring humor and joy to the craziness of this fallen world, for as Hillaire Belloc has famously said:
“Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine,
There’s always laughter and good red wine.
At least I’ve always found it so.
Benedicamus Domino!”

Enjoyed the program. Awesome info and discussion. Regarding new trads: younger people should appreciate that this tradition was taken from us as children while we watched our parents and some grandparents sit obedient to the destruction. Many old cranky trads pushed against the beasts who ran through churches wrecking everything. When an old soldier comes back all scarred and wrinkled, young pups should respect that rather than push them aside and keep them out of things because they aren’t young. Patience is still a virtue and we have a great deal to provide. If young folks run into those who logjam things, find an older trad who wants to help move them into the workload and forward. God bless.

I live in rural Australia, my local parish (and the only local parish) is exclusively N.O. At communion, there is always three laymen (all women) assuming ministerial functions. Recently I went up with my dughter (candidate) for communion and the laymen was wearing a low cut top, dripping in gold chains and precede to perform a blessing on my daughter. This is a mockery of the mass, wish I had an alternative.

I went on this retreat that went unexpectedly off the rails (I felt trapped in a room with Linda Blair) yet I was in a deep calm and laughing at the experiences God ALWAYS puts me in. With that said, things I learn begin to hit me months later. One of those things that just dawned on me after two years of the gift of attending the Heavenly “mass-of-always,” was how there is none of that celebratory singing during the moment of consecration, lifting of Eucharistic Jesus, communion and placing Him in the tabernacle “burial cave.” My roommate is a singer and ran the church choir in a novus ordo church. Her husband was one of the deacons. He passed away as one of the victims in May 2020. As she is telling me her story she goes on and says why she quit the church choir and stopped going to novus ordo mass. It wasn’t because of her husband’s death. She felt something deeply wrong in composing, leading, and singing these fast joyful songs at the moment of consecration for a God-Man, bludgeoned, hanging on a wooden cross by three giant nails. She said it didn’t make sense. How could that be a joyful moment? He is still being crucified now? She then began to go to traditional mass elsewhere and her family was perplexed and she didn’t care. She doesn’t even want to chant. I get it! She wants to get lost in God and not be praised by humans for her singing skills. I am told to sing in the chant schola by my husband and others, but like her, I don’t want to. I want to pay attention to God. I don’t want praise or distractions by humans. I’m new to all this and many lost years. I’m still on honeymoon since 2017 and more so since May 1, 2021: my first real mass of Heaven. All I remember is being attacked by the evil one the day before, sleeping three hours, driving 75 miles to that first Saturday of the month, and uncontrollable sobbing. I don’t cry in public. I despise that. Crying is intimate to me. I’m good at holding back, but not that day. My biggest sobbing has only involved Him. All I want is to be in His silence. At this point, I cannot really attend this modern service. I can feel everyone’s inner noise and duplicity. I look forward to be present at every sacrifice. I am transported at the foot of the cross United with my Blessed Mother Mary. The more Rome is falling the more I feel that moment. I don’t criticize the modern service because God allows this but gradually He has removed me from that scene as it has become more sacrilegious and demonic (depending on the church). I see a greater demonic all-in-your-face in priests in each church. Each church is functioning according to however the designated priest deems. Two weeks before the synod, it’s far more abysmal and priests showing their stylish change in their face, strut, dressing with thick Harley Davidson bracelet at the age of 70, gray hair goat-tee like the corona commercial “stay thirsty my friend..” the consecration is missing words even according to novus order missing the prime words “mystery of faith,” and more. They do all this with an interplay of doing confessions so as to take that moment to confuse souls on a one on one basis by giving them the wrong information and no real penance. They also never say “in Jesus Christ’s name…” at the end of absolution so I add it. Fast forward two weeks later, first week of October, it’s far far worse. I have morning sickness again but not pregnant. I smell and taste the rot of evil (a little gift God gave me to know the depth of evil at a given moment). I don’t know what God will do with those who have a modern Harley riding Archbishop and deceives the neediest people with his support for immigrants but not the immigrants who are traditional mass-of-always group who are homeless because we are stripped from a church and priests. There is only one group left in Miami with two priests and one to be sent to Rome in January. Meanwhile the community is growing and so are the funds in the bank and the pockets of three clergy leaders. But, God has a way of illuminating the wrong and guiding those in need to fill our spiritual gene with Our Father (3 in 1). All I do is unite myself with those who are not allowed to practice and have no church, no priest, no Eucharist. I drive a total of 100 to 150 miles to get to Him but I am wasting away. I’m so exhausted and having to keep peace with my husband because he doesn’t like me going to many times a week or late adoration. I feel constrained like the majority of the world but I thank Him for having something for now as well as the safe means (car and gas) of getting to Him, for now. The gist of the tale: It’s all about Him, for Him, with Him and more of Him. I’m always at His legs and feet trying to get up on that cross with Him but to no avail…I’m with Him as a huge sinner showing myself to Him and I don’t care: He loves me like this and I adore Him more bludgeoned because it’s out of love

I sought a priest who knew how to do it the “right way. I saw some many errors at every church. Finally found him since he’s trained in TLM, he follows the GIRM very firmly. Only one problem is that singing during preparation of the gifts and all during communion. I counted how much singing is at Mass - 8 times. No opportunity for prayer and reflection .
