Easy to see how ships like the Derbyshire went down..heavily loaded, big seas - even this one - the seas are almost washing over the decks at one or two points..

You are wrong these ships can take the weather.Often engine problems will affect a ship in bad weather.Water on deck on a tanker is nothing.

@ I sailed with Bibby line, the Derbyshire was one of the fleet. I live in the same village as the 3rd engineer ( and his wife) all hands were lost. A good documentary on you tube explains the cause of the sinking. Truly a sad day for all sea fearers. Don't mind admitting it made me cry.
