Its not a horn, its a speaker. Thats why it sounds weird, and why its a full song, because it doesnt need time to recharge air, like a real horn does.

Is it just me that find it quite scary? Imagine you are on another ship, in open sea, in a very dark and foggy night, and then these eerie horn songs start to play, and you don't know where they are coming from. Certainly it would look like a ghost ship.

After doing research about this, it’s quite impressive. This ship has a LRAD (Long Range Accoustical Device) commonly used on military ships as a weapon for anti piracy around the Horn of Africa and other common piracy waters. Who knew a weapon is used for music lol

It is an LRAD audio projector that can play pre recorded audio at extremely high output. They are available for small vehicles but you must be law enforcement or military to purchase it. You can google it for more info.

Bsully0024 yeah they do, they use LRAD systems, which is basically just a speaker, technically disney uses their actual horns, which is why their horns are short, because the horn needs time to recharge air, and this is just a speaker, not really the horn.

Against this cruise horn? You mean against this LRAD anti piracy system speaker? Disney uses real air horns, thats why it plays tunes and not full songs. Horns need time to pump air, it cant play a full song. This uses a speaker, thats why 1. It sounds weird 2. Its a full song 3. Its only heard decently from one side of the ship

Incorrect. The Magic and Wonder would. The Dream and Fantasy have recently had new horns added. The Dream has Do You Want To Build a Snowman from Frozen The Fantasy also Do You Want To Build a Snowman, and it also has Imperial March from Star Wars

id actually call it a draw cause of the music types one is rock and roll (not sure of the exact genre of the the music) and disney is musical... though splendida has the longer horn songs the disney ship needs breaks between theirs.

If you'll notice, the MCS digital horns are also much much quieter than they DCL digital horns. The MCS horns are only reletively loid when heard directky from the side. And even then theyre fairly quiet. The DCL horns are rediculously loud from all angles and sides of the ship.

Hi everybody! Well, I found out what the music is coming from, after doing research and connecting it with the video posted above. LRAD!! Long Range Acoustical Device. These are and have been, used on cruise ships and other ships as weapons. They were set to emit very high pitched beams of sound at Samoan pirates, used also on military ships. What got me interested was that Animal Planet program "Whale Wars". The Japanese fleet was using LRAD against the Sea Shepherds. Well, the owner of the ship also purchased LRAD to use against the Japanese, however they were playing music through theirs, mainly "Ride of the Valkyries". OK, the sound generated by a large LRAD is above and beyond anything a loudspeaker can create.The sound actually re-amplifies in the air in front of the LRAD, and by many times, hence the deep bass that carries for a long way. This LRAD could actually be used as the ship's main whistle!! The people who came up with this idea, intentionally set this MIDI sequence up to play very slowly, as if it were being played through real horns. OK if you watch the video again, you note the sound getting more and more powerful as the stern of the ship approaches. At 2.31 on the video, you see the LRAD hung out over the side of the ship, it is painted white to match the ship. Looking at other photos, shows the LRAD on the other side of the ship too. It looks kinda like radar dishes, but that is the LRAD. Since pirates often try to board near the stern, these LRAD arrays can be used as weapons against the pirates too and have been used on other cruise ships, hence on some other MSC ships, their LRAD weapons are now being used to entertain people!! Good stuff!!

Not only is this not a horn but Disney wrote and owns the songs they play. NSC is borrowing their music. You're playing 3 different artists from a pool of unlimited choices against a company that plays it's own I think 10 or 11 tunes now from real horns. While I love what NSC did to try to catch up Disney has few limits and as time goes on they'll continue to imagine up more stuff leaving the others scrambling to catch up.

no, it was only done by MSC two or three times. It was omly done on special events like the yearly harbour Party or the maiden call of a new MSC cruise ship

Ship was built in France. Music is all American, LRAD system you're hearing play the music is American technology from a company in San Diego California. Nothing about this ship is German

Christopher Tinker actually disney puts MSC to shame, disney uses true horns, which is why they can only play so much, horns need time to recharge the air, however MSC uses LRAD, which is pretty much a speaker, which is why it can play full songs

Actually is is quite unfair to Disney. Here is why Disney still uses horns to play tunes which is why there are short. The splendid is using LARD so if it was a HORN battle Disney would still win.

Ph0ny Gam3r who wins? Disney. The only reason MSC can play full songs is because they use LRAD, pretty much just a speaker. Disney uses true horns, which is why they can only play tunes, because horns need to recharge the air to play more, which would make the song almost an hour long.

You said horn battle which means the MSC can only play the default horn because MSC uses Lard, and DCL use actual horns. By default DCL wins.
