So this video is part of the 'Save the 80s' series and takes you on a trip down memory lane and around Plano Tx riding in a black 84 Toyota Supra. It's really a boring video if you think about it, but will kind of show you the dull, yet exciting life in the late 80s driving around in a snazzy car.
More East Plano of Bob Woodruff park and the Balloon fest: • Plano Balloon Festival...
And here is more Dallas footage that I shot more-so in the city of Dallas around 1988 :
• Dallas Texas 1980s video

This was my old stomping ground during my life as a young adult, around 17-18 in 1979 to my late 40's in 2010. I lived on the border of Dallas and Richardson off Spring Valley rd. I started working at Ted Prohaska auto refinishers (Plano) in 1980-1981. It's so freaking weird seeing all these streets and landmarks that I'd kinda forgotten. I'd spent the earlier part of my life out in East Texas and in the Little Elm/Frisco areas back in grade school to the middle of High School. Talk about change! WOW! Little Elm and Frisco looks so different now. I got lost the last time I went there. LOVE your video man!!!

Outstanding... I grew up in Plano, I'm 22 but I do get around real heavy a lot more than others. To my younger eyes I do see a lot of similarities, but even from my limited years in comparison I've seen many changes firsthand... When the camera panned Haggard farm from the south side of Park I was really surprised, most of that looks the same now. Some road work was just finished at the Park/Custer intersection a couple weeks ago and some more of the Haggard land was claimed by imminent domain but otherwise very minute differences. I should know, Park is one of the four options in and out of my neighborhood!

I lived in the Dallas area 81-87 and for a few months worked at Plano Rd and Central, then I worked for a car detail shop which also had a mobile wash service for some of the car dealers around town including Larry Lange Cadillac on Central near Plano Rd. I was there twice a week just spraying dust off all the cars on the lot. I remember driving by Texas Instruments hundreds of times back when the 75/635 interchange was still the cloverleaf. When I moved back to D/FW in 2008 the High 5 had replaced the cloverleaf and T.I. was gone, plus Central had been re-built. Allen and Frisco were built up by then, 121 was no longer a country road but a full multi-lane tollway, the President George Bush Tollway had been built and a lot of other changes. I left Texas in 2011 but I hear from friends around D/FW about other changes since then. What radio station was 92.5 back then? When I was in D/FW the 2nd time is was classic rock with Bo & Jim doing the morning show like they had on Q102 back in the 80s.

I can tell from my tan 4x4 in the drive it was probably 1991 or 1992. I lived in Plano from 1980 (population 67K) to 1993. The first road in Richardson was Waterview Dr. It used run between Arapaho and Campbell. Yeah, those huge fields were between Plano and Richardson off Custer I think. Glad you liked the video.

I was in Plano heading north on Shiloh and stopped at FM544/14th street. It's amazing how different/big the metroplex is now. Back then heading west from Shiloh, the roads would quickly turn into 2 lane backtop heading out to the little town of Wylie. From Shiloh/Parker it was the same thing, two lane blacktop heading out to Lavon, which by the way was open to anyone with no fees. I lived on Crystal Way just east of Shiloh. Oh yeah, and Renner road was part blacktop and gravel... it was a good way to slip over to Garland with no traffic lights.

Well, I'll try and help. Shiloh was the first street (out of the alley) that I pulled on to, and then I made a right on 18th. I looped around where it turns into Valencia Dr. where the middle school is Armstrong. Then down off of Park at Bob Woodruff park. Next was 16th street heading west to the service road at 75 Central. Next I was cruzing west on E.Park and over to W. Park by the Haggard ranch. Then I think I went south on Custer to the field just past Plano Pkwy and that's where they were building new stuff. George Bush turnpike wasn't there yet. Next was heading south on Waterview from Campbell, then left on Pinecrest Dr. where my old house is. Next down Central to Midpark then the the North Building of Texas Instruments. Finally I went up North on Central and then it cuts to East Plano on Shiloh at FM544. I have a longer version of this video but thought it would get too boring.
