Another fun video - I've watched all of your vlogs except for about two I think - they had something to do with engines or something :-) I especially appreciate your dry sense of humor mixed with just the right amount of sarcasm - just my style LOL! I woke with a migraine today and thought to watch one of your soothing river boat excursions; all those locks were stressful (music jarring) you must have been exhausted by the end of your day. And, you are right, it does seem that there is always someone watching when we screw up! But, guiding a long boat like yours must be very difficult; I'd have been all over the place and saying, "Sorry!" all day! You do very well as a solo boater; thank you and please keep sharing!

If you get a chance to stop just after bridge 161, you'll find the Sleepy Meadow Pet Cemetery. Well worth a visit and rather surprisingly quite a happy place, filled with memories of dogs, cats, rabbits & horses, whose owners clearly thought the world of them. Our horse, Oliver, is buried there. There are some resident chickens who are always happy to greet visitors

8:56 "We can fix that." Plus the damaged propshaft easily done too by a good machinist. The gearbox, on the other hand, hopefully it has shearpins or couplings internally that protected the precious gears. But that has to be determined by the shop. If the gear box is common enough, then replacements gears may be on hand, be used, scavenged or new. When shopping for a boat of any kind, check the power plant and driveline for any issues that may put your ride in drydock and wind up costing a pretty coin. But the prop, yeah, that's phosphor bronze and can be soldered/beaten back into shape, easy peasy for any qualified metalsmith.

I wait until I need to relax and let my cares drift away before watching your Vlogs. As I enjoy your daily adventures even if they my seem trivial to some, the little niggles that are encountered reflects upon everyone's journey and being able to relate to our own short-comings or lack of patience in other areas. Misconceptions of those that are still holding on too tight to life's up and downs I can relate to. Thanks for the warts and all and self depreciation of your post's. Given that this stretch of canal has been around for well over a hundred years, I'm amazed that the offending rock inflicted its very first bit of damage on a prop, unless it had been tossed in recently by vandals? Either that, or it's happened many times before, in which case one wonders why it hasn't been removed. Excellent upload, as usual - thank you David.

I've been watching cruising the cut when I first seen the long boats I thought it was the stupidest thing I've ever seen you always give something a second chance. the more I watch it the neater it is.I it's the way you described everything and such pretty Countryside. keep it up, I'm still watching go figure. I live in the United States.

Thank you showing your demonstration video on why you do not tie up the boat at a lock. It could have been a lot worse, you could have damaged the boat or worse done that at a pub full of gongoozler’s with cameras. Lovely couple who helped you with the locks too.

Well David, I think that you're really doing pretty good, even with the wind bothering you, as you only started narrowboating not all that long ago. You've learned a lot in a short period of time, and your vlogs are very nice and entertaining.

Thank you; I do feel that overall I am feeling more competant (usually!) and confident than I was when I started.

Having watched many of your videos I have added a centerline rope to my gunel's on my 24 ' cabin cruiser I am building as I will be like you a single hander. I figured it would make life easier docking up at the boat launch near me!

Great video as always. I think I have seen them all. You clearly put a lot of effort into them very professional. Oh well back to the office tomorrow. All the very best.
