Crush's Coaster is an indoor spinning roller coaster at Walt Disney Studios (Disneyland Paris Resort). This is a Maurer SC2000 coaster with a unique dark ride sequence at the start. The ride is themed to Finding Nemo as you join Crush on the East Australian Current. But was this capacity too low for a Disney park? Find out in this review!

Story time: the one time I went to DLP, wich was when I was like 8 and ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED of coasters, I went in line for Crush with my mom and made her wait over an hour just to chicken out WHEN WE GOT ON. She was pissed, and I definitely regret because I ain’t coming back there anytime soon since I’m not a millionaire 🤣

Low capacity is a big reason why.

For when I rode it in August 2007 (I had no idea that was the ride's inaugural year of operation until I just saw this video), I gave it an 8. It was my second ever spinning coaster, the first being Exterminator at Kennywood in 2001. Now I've ridden plenty of them but for someone who had never ridden this layout or model before, the way it all came together was fun, zippy and disorienting. I guess the company I was with helped too, as was a great friend who was laughing the whole way. I do remember the wait being bad and we wanted to ride together so I don't think we even looked to see if there was a single rider queue back then. Anyway, fun coaster.

I think the single rider line was added after it opened.

Actually, that first straight away contains Safety Brake 1 (B01). Trim Brakes are located only in Brake 3 and Brake 4. Spider is the only Maurer SC-2000 with a Trim Brake in Brake 5. The “horseshoe” turn as you call it is known as an Immelmann Turn, after the Aerobatic Maneuver.

Good coaster but very poor capacity. Unfortunately, I'm seeing this trend more and more often, especially in parks with Fastpasses. Examples of this include the Raptors and 4D Free Spins at Six Flags, the Zamperla Spinning Mouse at Cedar Point or Crush, Slinky and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Disney. All of these coasters are good and therefore attract a lot of people, but they have far too little capacity for the parks in which they are located. To me this looks like an intentional move to sell more Fastpasses.
@CanobieCoaster

This is an even more extreme example of a low capacity ride. This was also a budget move.

This thing could have actually made the EAC current screens like you had mentioned. In the video you mentioned the visuals wouldn’t be good but if the cars spawn like Guardians of the Galaxy cosmic rewind then it could happen.
@CanobieCoaster
@CanobieCoaster 2 ай бұрын
On Cosmic Rewind, the spin is controlled so they can strategically position you. This one is random and free.

Canobie Coaster would say: You then have one last banked drop and hop into the final brakes. These Maurer spinners are notorious for violently slamming the car back into place on the final brake run. It's a moment I always dread on these coasters. Fortunately, this has been toned down a bit on Crush's Coaster. It's still jolty don't get me wrong, but...

Perhaps they should have modified it to run tandem like the Matterhorn Bobsleds that went from one to two cars. But they should probably also have two tracks as well. Then capacity would be decent.

Surprised this got a 7/10. Imo the experience just stops after the lifthill. What's the point of building up the experience through a themed IP dark ride section if you're then going to plunge your guests into... an empty warehouse? It just does not feel like a ride made with Disney's skill or care. I'm honestly surprised they didn't just remove this yet. I feel like most guests would much prefer the (much more capacious) SeaRider from DisneySea.
@CanobieCoaster
@CanobieCoaster 8 ай бұрын
The base layout is a 5 or 6 for me at other parks, so when you add the dark ride bit at the start plus good spinning, it only improves.

Can't believe they went for something this low capacity. But I'd like to see more simple rides but heavily themed at Disney parks. They would reduce wait times and give some cool experiences. Imagine a Disney-themed Gravity Group family woodie, or an Intamin hot racer

I agree that a maurer spinner has to low capacity for the most visited park in europe (if you count the 2 parks in one), but it' sooo fun, and I love the theming and darkrides scenes, I think the dark aspect add a lot to the experience. I even think I prefer that to Winja's, yes, fight me

It is due to the use of Wheel Housings which only utilize cams, the spindles, axles, etc. If the trains utilized independent wheel bogies, it would track differently. Lagoon redesigned with the cooperation of ART Engineering, and approval of Maurer, put newly engineered ART Product Wheel Housings on Spider in 2016 that are a vast improvement over the Maurer Wheel Housings.
