For the last question ( 1:33:25 ) we can simply infer from the question stem that x/y > y/x. Given x&y are positive intigers, x>y. This is because by adding the fraction x/y (both being positive) to a/b such that (a+x)/(b+y), the resulting fraction will be closer to x/y than it originaly was (i.e. (a+x)/(b+y) is closer to x/y than a/b is). Knowing this, it must be true that x/y > y/x Remember: (2+x)/(3+y) is closer to x/y than 2/3 is and (2+y)/(3+x) is closer to y/x than 2/3 is. So if (2+x)/(3+y) > (2+y)/(3+x), given that the 'original' fraction is 2/3 in each case, x/y > y/x. You can visualise this by creating a number line and plugging in values. Because x&y are positive fraction we can multiply both sides by x&y and see that x^2>y^2 and x>y. Once you understand the theory it is very easy to implement it directly without calculating anything. I am pointing this out because you can easily save 20 seconds knowing this, and sometimes several minutes if the question stem is not easily simplifiable.

1:26:52 On question no 4, we arrived at (x-y)^2 >2xy after factorizing x^2 +y^2 "some positive number" and solved the problem and hence arrived at the answer the option is not sufficient. But if we take the positive number itself which is (x-y)^2 and try to evaluate it. (x-y)^2 as it is positive, we can say that (x-y)^2 >0 which can be written as x-y>0 and hence x>y, thus making the condition sufficient. Can someone help me understand why my understanding is incorrect?

Thank you so much for this video. I have a doubt. At 54:38 , could you please explain how 1/16 is the biggest value. Because if you move right on the number line, there's -1/3 , -1/2 , -1/1. And the square of all of them will be greater than 1/16.

Plot the number line correctly. -1/3 (which is essentially -0.33) is smaller than -1/4 (-0.25) and is beyond the stated minimum value of y.

Hello, How come the max min rule doesn't work for Y^2 because you're essentially multiplying two ranges y and y? in 56:00? Basically if x and y have the same ranges you and you multiply them that's the same as just squaring Y but the answer doesn't show zero. Please explain. Do the ranges always have to be different?

Cross multiply -1*144= -144 -1*32= -32 - 32 is greater therefore -1/144 is greater Method 2 Logic Forget about the minus sign Now the denominator with the greater value ll divide the numerator more Therefore 144 will divide more hence is smaller fraction Now with the minus sign just the reverse result therefore greater fraction
