When I first started playing poker in the 1990's at Commerce, I always wore sunglasses, because I was nervous of the stakes I was playing in - to get through a hand was a day's pay for me; But I soon discovered after awhile of doing it, that when you wear sunglasses against unsophisticated opponents, it makes them not trust you, so I still do it now. Trust me, sunglasses against recs makes them think you are bluffing or weak.

Hey Bart! I’m 19, live in Jacksonville and grind 2-2 and 2-5 at BestBet. I can say this game is very close / a little bit softer than how the 2-5 game usually plays. However, I mostly play 2-2 and the fields can be much softer then what you reviewed in this footage. It’s very odd how soft these bestbet games play even when comparing to south Florida games just 300 miles away. It’s actually the reason I dropped out of college this year to pursue nlh full time. Would love to see more of this content! Goodluck at the Bounty Scramble, hope to see you there!

I find it fascinating how bad people are which to me are big stakes - I play 50p - £1 and 50p-50p blinds in Scotland. The decent regs here are very keen on trying to balance. My friend and I who I discuss hands with crush the games, but the caliber is just so much better. You don’t have people betting off bottom pair for value on rivers (unless it’s actually a good bet) - you have people using blockers to bluff, checking aces multi-way on 578 sort of boards so they don’t get raised off and balanced etc

jason hounsell Sounds terrible.
@jasonhounsell3297
@jasonhounsell3297 4 жыл бұрын
Lauro Padilla I’m not sure what you mean, I assume your referring to checking aces? However if we are 250BB’s deep, multi-way and you bet aces on that board your going to be in a world of hurt, I’ll raise sets, two pairs and draws - your going to be in a huge pot, with an overpair calling down hoping your good, any scare cards that come that complete flushes or straights you will hate and likely fold, even my draws have good equity, and my value hands just crush you. That’s why aces is a clear check on that board multi way. If your in a horrible game where people only raise good hands, fine - bet aces and fold to the aggression, against good players they will exploit you for c-betting too loose (aces on that board is too loose multi-way and the amount of overpairs I’ve put in ridiculous horrible spots when I jam the river is funny when they do bet that board)
@lauropadilla1114
@lauropadilla1114 4 жыл бұрын
@@jasonhounsell3297 No I 100% agree. Checking is definitely fine. What I was referring to when I said "Sounds terrible" was the quality of the games you play in. They sound very tough and unprofitable. To give you some context your 50p-1 games probably plays like a soft $5-$10 game in California.
@jasonhounsell3297
@jasonhounsell3297 4 жыл бұрын
Lauro Padilla Yea that’s what I always think watching Barts stuff and Brad Owens vlogs. You do get fish for sure who do silly stuff, but most the regs are much better, and the good regs in a 1-1 game have a really good understanding of theory. Betting small to keep ranges wide, they understand position and polarisation so you bet larger in polar spots etc... they can be tough. I have a few soft games I play in that are very profitable home games, however in the casino, you will get 3 bet fairly well. An example hand I played last night. We have AJ off in the HJ - folds to me and I open 3x - the button is a good player but not someone I’ve seen, a young Italian who I’ve seen his lines and they are very good. He 3bet to 14x. I can’t continue profitably as a call, and AJ has good removal, however off suit will under realise if I call. I 4 bet to 37x (we are 130bb deep) - button calls. Flop is AA4 - I down bet 19 into 74 (obv to get value from pairs, put KQ suited in a bad spot etc) - BTN flats - turn brings a backdoor flush on a 6 as well as front door flush draw - I check (if it goes check check I can go large on blank rivers and put some hands like JJ in a bad spot) - he jams turn for 80ish into 112 - I have to call at this point. He has A9 and turned the flush draw (sadly it hits) He had to defend in position to my 4bet pre as I sized small, obv has to call flop with say KQ with backdoors - when I check turn after small sizing I can have 10,10-KK as well as AX etc - his jam puts my range in a bad spot and with his bluffs he folds out a load of my pairs sometimes. AJ is middle of my range, as I will have AK a bunch, and aces sometimes - I also have a lot of 10’s - K’s - I obv have to call and hope he has not got AK or AQ. To be fair however that kid was better than the avg. reg at casinos, his defending and 3betting range from what I could tell was very good. That’s why I was happy to 4bet AJ as my bluff hand, against some other regs I might not as they are slightly value heavy but still are somewhat solid.
@mattcarter8257
@mattcarter8257 4 жыл бұрын
Defending A9 suited to a 4 bet on the BUT is awful. In position or not. 5 bet or fold. But honestly live games don't play on that intricate of a level so it's a fold. A10 suited is my cutoff there. Your OOP 4 bet range shouldn't be too many hands, AJ is a decent bluff candidate but should be mainly value in general. Easy fold in his spot.

The hand where the player bet pot with QsQh on flop $125 in a 4 way pot on 7s6s2c. 29 minute mark. Bart mentions this is way to big of a bet. What is a good bet size? how do you continue (assume one caller and you are OOP) on the turn? A, K? Spade? 89T, 543? 7 or 6? Spade? I struggle with these situations.

I play in Daytona and Orange City Florida which is about 1.5 hours South of Jacksonville Best Bet and the poker here is Way Way better than that. Those couldnt be the regular 2/5 ers from that area. They must of just put their names on the list and got their chance. I know the quality of players here in Daytona and O City and I have to assume the 2/5 regulars up in Jacksonville are better than what weve just looked at - no offense to anyone at the table - maybe it just was the hands he showed.

What's funny in these low stakes, weak players just play their cards and take nothing else into consideration. They don't care about position, who is behind them when they flat, how many they are betting in to. Ive folded so may winning hands on river when someone bets and a call in front of me, because in most situations, there is no way you are good. But they are that bad where it would be a mistake not to call in some of these situations.
