Tournaments hit differently, but one should expect that. They don't go for your throat because they dislike you, they do it because they must, because they want to get gold. There are no emotions involved in tableing you, just sheer necessity.

Diehard is absolutely a Christmas film. Take a film, its set at Christmas. Protagonist is estranged from family member. There's some peril involving mean baddies. Bad fuys are defeated, and there is Christmas music. Family reunion at the end with everyone loving each other and a happy ending. Have I just described Home Alone? Because thats also a Christmas movie. Nope, its Diehard.

One of the reasons I love my Imperial Guard is because of how much Infantry I can field. Even if I'm dominating a game, my opponent is still blowing droves of models off the table and it's always a good time. I love rooting for them and will do goofy stuff like having Commissars charge Daemon Princes.

Every faction battling each other can work with this simple phrase “chaos corrupted.” “Your Grey Knights wouldn’t fight Tau.” “They’re chaos corrupted Tau.” My brother collects Dark Angels, and we justify our battles with the idea that incompetent parts of the inquisition have discovered the fallen and have assumed that all dark angels have fallen to chaos and have dispatched imperial fists (because sons of Dorn have never fallen to chaos, and grey knights are unavailable) with an inquisitor to investigate the dark angels, the imperial fists attack the Dark angels first leaving the dark angels no choice but to defend.

Truly an amazing and inspiring story about the new gaming group after this guy lost his army. Brilliant people banding together

He reminds me of the Rosie and Jim bedcovers guy from a few weeks back who was screaming and shouting around a Settlers of Catan table. Some people just aren't made for competition and these sorts of situations, they take things going against them as if you're insulting them and then throw anger back at you.

My flgs 40k league is competitive and i love it even if im low-mid tier in the group. I understand were all going for gold, so am i. Its still nice to play casual games with buddys and beer.

I don't play tournaments or in most leagues. I have zero interest in needing to compete by throwing more money into the hobby beyond what I paid 2 get a 2,000 pt army on the table with models I liked the look of. Given that you'll get blown out by people who figured out the most efficient models and dropped another a few hundred 2 maximize those units..having a willingness to do it every data slate...no thanks.

Regardless of the game, if you go to a tournament with a suboptimal or wacky setup (army list in 40K) and you're not tip top as a player then you've got the potential to be slapped around. I feel there is a nobility in taking an army that you love even if you know you're a huge underdog and trying your best, but getting mad at people for being better than you is just childish.

Still one of the funniest things I’ve ever experienced was when I’ve started my darkangels and played Ravenwing vs black templars (early 9th) and he was near an objective with an hq and an assaultmarine squad I’ve pitched it down via shooting and only the Sargent was left (plasma pistol ofc) he had to prevent me from staying on that objective to have a chance at winning (I had a one wound ravenwing apothecary left) (was the last turn as well) I’ve told him before his turn it would be beyond funny if u fail the charge on the hq shoot the plasma pistol overcharge and roll a one and if the roll the charge for that Sargent he would’ve made it and win in melee and what happens exactly what I’ve predicted still one of the funniest things ever happening to me. We played 1:1 fun hit us in the face went to him and with some basic scoring (just primary) went to me.

If anyone complains about my games which end up being imperium vs imperium I'll just point to the dawn of war scenario wheee blood ravens fought the imperial guard, or the scenario where commissar Cain had to fight loyal PDF forces to avoid a wider war that the imperium would've lost against the tau or I could just say that whoever was commanding my guard regiment was secretly a traitor
