VPNs are just an added layer, a shield. no shield is impenetrable, no security measure is impossible to break or circumvent...and there is no such thing as total anonymity on the web. dark or otherwise. the first step is always to minimize the digital fingerprint you leave, and a using a Virtual Machine with a VPN doesn't stop someone from getting into your physical machine. if you wanna do this sort of stuff, it needs to be on a wholly separate machine which Kevin doesn't do, and you should also do it knowing that where some people online are concerned, there is still a possibility they will gain access to your home network, and any other connected device.

He never hacked him... its called social engineering. The hacker found a vulnerability to exploit which was this KZfaqr's approach to him... logically makes sense someone like this hacker would be corned about his own security. The fact that he admitted to screenrecording proves that social engineering is the most powerful tool a hacker has if they know how to use it.

First mistake… not using a cheap disposable laptop that has nothing on it to identify you. Second mistake… not using a VPN while connected to the Tor network before engaging something like this, and using a VirtualBox. Third mistake… doing this on your home network.

Omg please stay safe! :( Would hate to see something happen to you. I love these types of videos, not going to lie, but please be aware and safe. This person is a hacker, you honestly shouldn't be THAT surprised they found you and hacked you. I don't blame the hacker necessarily. What they do is risky and you are recording your guys' conversation. I'd be paranoid too if I was being asked these kinds of questions and then find out it's being recorded. I know it's for educational purposes on your end, but they don't really know that and or even trust you. You two are both taking risks here which I'm sure you already know. Never, never, NEVER, use your own computer to go on the dark web. Go buy a cheapie laptop somewhere. Don't put anything identifiable to you on it. Use your VPN and go that way. Ideally, don't go from your own home internet. Go in a Tim's or McD's and use their free wifi. Makes it very difficult to film them, but for maximum protection going on the dark web, that's the way to do it. Especially if you're going to be chatting with hackers on there.

Thank you for exploring the dark web so we don't have to. Always been interested in browsing the dark web. Not to do anything illegal, but just watch what more is out there. There's a thin line between being curious and doing something illegal and you never what you will come across. Stay safe! PS: you should get an extra computer where you haven't typed in any personal information like email, passwords, documents and so on. I think you could still get hacked from that computer, but at least they can't find any personal information about you, I think. I'm not a pro on these things though.
