CRYSTAL COVE BARBADOS - Elegant Hotels Resort Review 2021

Hi everyone,
A review video showing what to expect if you'll be travelling to Barbados and staying in the Crystal Cove Resort in St James.
It's a small resort ran by the Elegant Hotels Group on the West Coast of Barbados.
There are 88 rooms available and guest are able to utilise the other Elegant Hotels Resorts in the area as part of their All Inclusive stay.
The video shows a tour of the resort, room tour (Oceanview Junior Suite), restaurants/bars, gym and the pool area and beach.
Hopefully this helps anyone who is travelling to Barbados and this resort anytime soon and is feeling anxious about how different it'll be or what to expect due to covid. If you have any questions please let me know below!

Looks nice but try Sandals resort in Barbados everything is included food & drink ,the shuttle from Airport plus fight as a package deal .You get go to other Sandals resort which next door plus you get 12 restaurants no tipping 12 different pools and water sports not included is excursions but at of the end of the vacation bill is $0 .Me & wife had a blast l hook on Sandals their hospitality is way beyond l expected they go out of their way for you to enjoy your stay.

I just wanted to say Thanks, great video, I'm off to Crystal Cove in couple months, travelling by myself, so now the only thing I'm concerned about is the Covid testing!

Thanks for sharing your experience. We've been mulling this over for a while now and had concerns about the mixed reviews (although the vast majority were good). This swayed us. It does look a little old and tired in places, but overall looks good. So we booked!

That’s fantastic news Stewart, I’m so glad my video helped 🙂 I’ve got friends here at the moment and they love it! The ability to utilise the other Elegant Hotel resorts is a big bonus so it’s wonderful for a change of scene for dinner or entertainment etc! When are you booked for?

@@inspiredadventures5793 The use of other hotels was definitely a big consideration for us. We’re going next Friday, 19th. Cramming in the holidays now we are free to travel again :-)

Which number room is this junior suite as we have booked a ocean view junior suite and this looks lovely?

Does anyone know if the suites have a closed bedroom area to the lounge area where the sofa bed is? Is there a big difference between the Junior suite and the 1 bed suite other than size?

We were married there 21 years ago. Beautiful resort and wonderful people. We long to return when our kids are grown. ❤️

@@inspiredadventures5793 the rooms look different yes, but the outside looks the same to me, we wrote our names in the pebbles in the pond too. The staff felt like friends, wonderful people. We kept in touch with the lad who helped us with our luggage and showed us where our room was. Like l say, it felt like home to us, only hotter 🤣.

My wife and I have been visiting Crystal Cove Hotel for many years, the hotel is a nice & small complex, the staff are always pleasingly pleasant. We are eager to return when travel restrictions from UK are relaxed, possibly later part of 2021.

When arriving in Barbados will Immigration accept the British NHS Covid-19 vaccine status certificate as proof that travellers have had 2 doses of vaccine.

We are thinking of going with 2 children, reviews appear to be mixed. Are all drinks in with their price? My main concern is that the rooms are tired and dingy.

Hey 👋🏻 How old are the children? We took a 3 year old & they loved it! When we went the kids club was closed due to covid but I believe it’s open now. The pool was good and being a stones throw from the beach was fantastic, lots of water activities to keep them amused which are free! Also being able to go between resorts is good for a change of scene for them/you! All mainline drinks were included (JD, absolut vodka etc), but you’ll pay a surcharge at the coffee/wine bar for some wines and champagnes. The rooms aren’t super modern but are nice, very clean and comfortable. No complaints from us about the rooms at all! Hopefully this helps 🙂 Let me know if you chose here in the end!

I read about a water taxi taking guests to other sister hotels. Which ones are they and does your AI apply at these also? Re water sports, do you have stand up paddle boards for guests? Thanks.

Hi Tom, if you watch my video around the 13:00 mark you’ll see the water taxi in question. Yes your AI status is honoured at the other Elegant Resorts which was very much welcomed for a change of scene! I think I remember seeing others using the stand-up paddle boards but don’t quote me as I didn’t use them myself!

It looks great, was there much to do outside the resort, in the local area please? Shops, bars etc.

Honestly, we didn’t venture too far as the resort was really nice! We went to one of the sister hotels one evening as they had entertainment on & we wanted to try the restaurant. We also did a guided round the island & a boat trip but we didn’t actually wander in the immediate area outside of the resort. Sorry I can’t be anymore use! Taxis were readily available & well priced however

Hi is there much for kids entertainment? Is the food and drink good? How is the beach on the westcoast compared to the north or south coast please. Thanks

There wasn’t any kids entertainment when we were here, the kids club was actually closed. The food & drink was really good, plenty of choice, fresh & well cooked. Kids food wasn’t out in the buffet area, we had to order it separately which was fine but we didn’t know this until the second last evening. In terms of beaches, I’ve only ever been on the West Coast of Barbados so I can’t comment on the other coast beaches I’m afraid. Hopefully this helps a little!

What an outdated dump, small beach small pool limited seating, no thanks. One loud or rude family or group of people zero peace and quiet.

At the time (over 3 years ago) it was used as the Elegant Hotels “Quarantine Hotel” where everyone stayed before their results came back and they could move to the other, better hotels. It’s the smaller and more “intimate” of the hotels they have on the island but I agree that it’s in dire need of an upgrade. Possibly something they’ll do in the future but definitely the worst of the EH collection
