15 years clean off ice and watching this made me remember how utterly EXHAUSTING it is to be a slave to the drug and how exhausting it is to love and be around an addict. It's just go go go. Godspeed to this young man. ✌️🤟🧡💛

That’s almost every hardcore drug addict on this series. They will do anything and everything to catch that next high. Robbing old ladies, knocking out an old man to take a couple dollars. Stealing from little kids. A lot of these stories are sad but I don’t have any sympathy. We ALL have problems and the majority of us just deal with them. Like adults are supposed to do. Right now there’s a woman watching this that was molested as a child but she didn’t use it as an excuse. She picked herself up and now she helps talk to other girls that went through similar things. I do feel for some of these people but I don’t feel sorry for them

Most of the stories that mark brings here with some people you can tell they are genuine people who’ve been dealt a bad hand in life and have a pure heart but they are stuck, this guy has narcissistic tendencies, and a victim mentality. I mean, I guess it's certainly possible he can with another person, perhaps his own child. But he just doesn't seem like he's capable. I'm going to add this. Three, four years ago I became a drug felon. The place of business it happened outside of, I'm now the assistant manager of. It is a small town but, the manager watched me get my life together, and decided to be the first to show trust in me. It's kinda really cool when I think about it.

No, the drugs don't help. But I have a close family member VERY similar to him. She's older now, almost 60, and still struggles like this guy. But even without the drugs they often present like this. Then they get their drugs and yeah... It can be exhausting trying to keep up. But I've seen her without the drugs many many times thru my life, and unfortunately even then, she/they ramble, are "quirky" and don't know how to compose themselves within societal "norms". The ADHD mind from how she explained it, craves the speed/caffeine/Adderall/meth because it actually helps soothe their brain. But... Then some people overdo and abuse the stimulants that once helped them, and then that's when we see them awake for days on end, not eating or drinking, without even knowing it most of the time, until they either find another drug to knock themselves out or sometimes psychosis kicks in, and eventually they pass out or get hurt and taken to the ER or jail to finally come down and then sleep it off for the next few days.

I watched every second of this and replayed numerous parts to ensure I digested this young man's story. He is definitely not dumb, by any means. I think he has experienced more PTSD than most of us could have imagined. Hearing more about his younger childhood memories would provide significant insight as to how his brain chemically developed to function in such a severely traumatized and defensive manner. I feel his interview was 98% authentic and can legitimately be used for statistical data collection. Respect to this guy for being incredibly transparent and open. This is only 1 person's story out of millions, but I will never forget this interview.

My middle nephew that we've adopted has ODD and it is extremely trying, to say the least, to deal with. He does irritating things all the time for negative attention and only because he KNOWS we don't want him to be doing them. He's careless and a slob. Very self-centered, but at the same time has a heart of gold and cares for others when no one else does. His newest ailment that he plays is a "cough". A "cough" that only happens when it's time to settle down and watch cartoons before bedtime. Before the cough it was sniffling, to where we'd tell him to blow his nose. Then it was clearing his throat and playing with his hair. The reason why I know it's for attention is that if I threaten to send him to bed early, miraculously the cough, sniffling, etc; stops. All three of my nephews that we've adopted have ADHD severely and having three at once has been very trying at times. Their mother did uppers and downers for street drugs during all of her pregnancies, including her eldest son that is 21 that was adopted out as an infant. They were 6,7, and 11 when we got them home with us. They have come so far. So very proud of them. Cannot wait to see what they do with their lives and how they blossom and help make this world a better place.

The words that come to mind for me to describe him are apathetic, energetic, pessimistic, callous, egotistical and calculated. A lot of people say he's intelligent but to me this is just a back and forth conversation/interview. Maybe because he's coherent, talks fast and not out of it, people are describing that as intelligent. Not saying he isn't but I'm just not seeing how this interview portrays intelligence.

Never comment on these threads but I'm in shock with his lack of accountability and remorse. His house was shot up ( I'm presuming it was because of something he or his partner did). He got out himself and blames the girlfriend for not grabbing the little baby. He didn't even say that he tried. Fair enough might have been impossible but to show no remorse or guilt for what happened his child ( whether he is at fault or not) is very worrying. Regardless of the circumstances a natural emotion for surving a situation like that would be guilt for those who didn't survive. Hopefully it's the drugs that have him so devoid of such feelings and its not his default.

@@Aquabob1 I'm annoyed with myself I even commented tbh but I'm actually angry after that interview, Ive watched nearly all of them and always had some compassion for everyone so far. Drug addiction is not an excuse for his lack of accountability and guilt. And by the sounds of it his behaviour and lack of empathy was there long before he started taking drugs. Hate to be so negative but ...I work with children with ADHD and ODD , some medicated some not, I'm trained how to best support them in their daily lives, how to give them them the opportunity to reach their full potential and how to teach them strategies on how to regulate their behaviours and emotions. ADHD and ODD are not excuses or reasons for lack of accountability and selfishness nor does any person/ child I've encountered with these diagnoses display such lack of social awareness

@@juju.bean3435 That part caught my attention. I was surprised he didn't say something about that when he mentioned that his girlfriend didn't get their baby. I was really surprised he didn't mention it when he was asked about regrets in life. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt until that point. I thought maybe he didn't realize there was a gas leak. Or he thought the mother was with their baby and would bring their baby outside. Maybe the house blew up right as he realized this, and he didn't have time to go back and get their baby. But in any of the scenarios I thought of, I still find it shocking that there would be no mention of not saving their child when asked about regrets. Maybe he was that detached. Maybe he's that cold. Maybe drug abuse messed with his head so much during and after that time, that he was incapable of really feeling the sense of loss that hurts so deeply.

As Tyrone addressed in his last SWU interview "Are you ready to die?" there's a spiritual hole or void present. To Tyrone's credit, he acknowledges his particular emptiness which addicts chose to fill with drugs. Once someone has turned their life over to serious drug addiction, there is a progressive lack of control within the addict's psyche. It's a Catch 22 situation wherein the drug of choice, especially meth & crystal, gives the user a sense of power & control. The drug addict then is in a state of constant craving & a desire to constantly fill the hole within them. Oftentimes they become callous & view other people as just objects to feed off of & use to their advantage as the drug user sinks farther & farther into their dark hole.

I don’t quite agree. He has more maturity than most people, look at his most important lessons at the end. For his age 26 he is very mature and wise, he is extremely creative, he can’t even stay still he is so full of potential energy, so full of that sense of freedom. His essential energy is goodness and creativity, that’s what I see anyway. Life has created a shell for him, has hurt him, but his light shines still, a blazing light

I don’t want to make blanket statements, but many meth addicts that I’ve met in my life are unbelievably talented. A lot of them with awful childhoods, trauma, and undiagnosed or untreated adhd. So many good people caught up in this lifestyle.

@@Scxoop123 Not everyone is living in Skid Row. Not everyone has the same experiences. Mark does an amazing job of letting people tell their individual stories. You may not meet a meth addict, or one OPENLY ADMIT to their drug use. Or get insight on what it's like. He's giving people the opportunity to share who they are. I'm a social worker in a hospice, so I get one side of people's life. The end. I don't particularly get the opportunity to walk around and interview people like Mark. So, yes, people's individual stories are hidden. They don't have shirts with their stories or experiences on them. So, watching this man gives insights on everyone.
