The best comparison between the two games Counter Strike 2 or CS2 (2023) and Counter Strike: Source or CS Source (2004), I will compare the most important similarities, physics, details, textures and special places in the game. The entire video was created by myself (GameLight).
Many players have been waiting for a long time for CS GO to switch to the new Source 2 engine, and it finally happened, this summer CS2 will officially be released at the moment in limited testing (Valve)

CS:S had a certain charm to it, the old graphics are really charming and the sounds are so crisp. It feels like a time machine. Maps like office are incredibly nostalgic, almost like a liminal space. There are times when I just walk around the map alone in gmod and discover things like the elevators making subtle mechanical noises and beeping sounds. Or shooting one of the computers causing the screen next to it to turn off. It just brings back so many memories like the gmod idiot box bit where chuckles the cheat was caught hacking at a LAN Party. Or a guy getting arrested causing the whole office to explode when he tries to prove that he can "BrEak tHeSe cUFFs". The source engine really is magical.

Love this comment mate and could not have said it better. I cannot get past CSS, the audio, weapon mechanics, hitboxes, look, feel and community spirit all surpass everything CSgo, CS2, have to offer. Fuk sake, nearly 20 years later CSS is still more aesthetically pleasing to me than csgo and cs2. Obviously, CSgo and CS2 is a cash grab with regards to skins etc but why the fuk would they swap out the amazing sound effects of weapons in CSS to the dull and shit effects in go and 2. Shit.. I could rant for ever. Just glad i have found a server in my country still active. Long live CSS

Btw for all of those wondering you can still play with all of the physics interactions that were is CS:S in CS2, they are disabled on official maps as they are meant to be a competitive environment, but nothing stops you from modding the map though and simply giving the props physics... that or making your own map yourself and making it physics hell where everything is a physical prop that can be moved around.

because csgo and cs2 have a target to be as competetive as they can. most of maps dont have moveable props because of optimisation issues

Finally, someone that actually used their brain before commenting. Most people saying that it was a downgrade because CS2 has less interactable object than CS: Source. They said that because they know nothing at all about game development and only know how to speak a word using their small-underdeveloped brain.

Yeah, it's marketing, CS2 looks better than CS Source 2, or CS2GO. To reach larger audiences, and empower them, they did the right thing.

No need to hate each other. I can understand your side and others. CS Source came out in 2004, CS2 was made for a very long time and many players expected more than they can give at the moment. GTA San Andreas came out in 2004, and the difference between GTA San Andreas and GTA 5 (2013) is huge. CS is not a very big game, and I am sure that they earn a lot from skins and could do better. I hope I was able to explain the views of others.

@@GameLight GTA and CS aren't the same thing. Valve could make greatest graphics ever if they want to but They knows half of their playerbase use Potato Pc who wont be able to run the game If CS2 become Graphically Demanding.....CSGO's main rival Valorant already gives more FPS than CSGO, So if CS 2 gives even less FPS than half of its players will switch to Valorant. So it's understandable why graphics in COUNTER STRIKE not getting huge upgrade compares to AAA games

cs2 actually looks nice. I like the new graphics, but in my opinion cs source will always be the best cs game for me. and no one can change my mind. The sound effects and animations are just so nostalgic. the 2005 vibes of playing on a xp desktop that was barely able to even browse the internet. Good old times ;')

@@EZA4 I am glad you mentioned it in your mind. I don't wanna change your opinion and Everyone can be entitled to one But in my opinion CSS just felt wrong from 1.6. It wasn't as popular like 1.6 and Till csgo released, 1.6 was the main Pro SCENE and considered Main CS not CSS. CSS was cool with all this great physical interactions but that's something that gets annoying in competitive. Also Valve didn't bother to listening to community and didnt upgrade CSS to be more Viable. Like they did to 1.3-1.4-1.5 to Perfect 1.6

Also you can make thirdperson view detailed as in csgo2 in css. You need to write some commands on developer console. Beside of that css has a few other things that not included in the video. Anyways thanks for video i hope valve solve optimization problems and include css features in csgo2 oneday.

Не забывайте в каком году был сделан сурс,а ещё,в настройках сурс можно сделать детализированное освещение(блики,отражения и тд)

полностью согласен, у обоих этих версиях разные движки, в кс2 более современный сурс движок(sourse2) который одаптирован под графику, а старый сурс больше под механику и физику взаимодействием с игрой, да и такими сравнениями могли бы и с кс1.6 сделать

@@suharik101 нет Source 2 имеет физику гораздо лучше чем Source 1 , просто современная CS 2 делает упор на оптимизацию и соревновательность , а CS:S был упор на революционность и демонстрацию возможностей Source 1 перед выходом Half-Life 2

@@mikelikesguitaralotI had a X1900XT which was significantly more powerful than a 9800 Pro and i remember i was hanging around 60-70fps in HL2, i dont remember how the performance was in CS:S but i played that also alot back then. CS:S was really a huge step up in physics and graphics back then, i remember being mind blown when it came out.

Так это специально сделали, потому что в ксс можно было бомбу в текстуру бочки, бутылки и т. д заплентить, поэтому в кс го и кс2 такого нет Что бы не было препятствий нормальной игре

CS Source has problem with props, is that the player hit boxes always collided with props hit boxes makes it hard to walk and sometimes you're stuck, if CS2 wants to implement Physics, it must've been disabled in Online mode.

cs2 has movable props but they don't move due to the nature of the map and possibly due to optimization

Nah it's not optimization, its purely for gameplay reasons as folk were messing around, blocking the bomb with props and stuff. Static maps are way more predictable for competitive play which is what CSGO+ is aiming for, and you dont have to worry about serverside vs client side representations of the props (desyncronization). The physics code for Source and S2 is highly optimized as it is, they can handle more physics objects than any of the maps really lets on.

Only on steam version tho. Also weapon bugs like that knife one happened cuz he already turned 3rd person mode on before and turned if off. This bug also happens only on steam version

@@cttz а почему в 2004 Valve смогли всё идеально оптимизировать, хотя более технологичных игр на тот момент просто не было, а сейчас не могут завести даже рэгдол физику, в 2023 блять! И при этом оправдываются какой-то оптимизацией.

Странные баги в css, сколько в неё играл, никогда подобного не видел, что в версии 34 что в steam версии. Может они проявляются только при одиночной игре. Мне в css нравилась фича того что he гранаты летят не по заданной траектории, а по физике движка, и случайным образом вращалась в полёте, и её можно было сбить выстрелом. Понятно что в cs2 не должно быть подобного рандома у гранаты, хоть это и выглядит реалистичнее. И все остальные физические объекты, типа бочек, они реализуемы и в csgo и в cs2, но их убрали чтобы они не мешали игровому процессу. Если задуматься, так даже лучше, хоть и выглядит менее реалистично.

Source was such a banger back in the day. I started in 2005 with it. Ya'll will never know the peak days of joining random community servers, finding some group of idiots you vibed with, and messing around on community made maps and modes for hours on end long before anyone was "good" at the game. Don't get me wrong, I love the competitive and well balanced direction CS has taken over the years, it's what kept it alive and brought it into the modern day for so many new fans, but man were those some great times. RIP The Legend, onto a new one!

I mean technically speaking this is the right comparison between Source and Source 2 versions of CS. CS:GO was just pushing the engine to it's limits but that version of Source was never meant for a game of 2012, rather 2004-2007. So it makes all the sense in the world to compare CS source and CS source 2.

Physics in Counter Strike: Source is better because it has Havok Physics and prop moves when you shoot.

Щас бы ещё сравнивать, то что было и что мы имеем сейчас😂. Да где-то физики нет в КС 2, но так бы игра весила ещё больше. Игру разработчики могли конечно сделать куда более идеальной, но радуемся тому что есть.
