‘How we all gonna fit in there?’...fast forward to 2019 and there’s about 20 people living there

Always saw the moving Slaters in as the beginning of a brand new era for the EastEnders. Brand new family, never before mentioner or even alluded to, but made immediate and lasting impact even to this day.

They did an episode based on Pat and Big Mo history. Mo was played by Lorraine Stanley who now plays Karen Taylor.

Boy Ian Beale had no idea how much of an impact The Slaters would have on The Square as well as himself.

I think that The Slaters, Truemans and Taylors are going to be one of the most memorable Families that arrived in the 2000's. What's so eerie was that when the Slaters arrived it was on the same day that The US Soap Opera Guiding Light got Cancelled after 72 years on the air 57 on TV.

I remember this episode so clearly. I was only 16 and the Square needed some new blood. Beppe's family was meant to be that new blood but they just didn't work I hated Big Mo at first, didn't seem like there was any redeeming qualities to her and I loved Pat, so didn't like how Mo disrespected her 😂 also, because they were so popular and there were so many of them, they ended up in almost every scene for a good few years to the point of overload. Overall, they were one of the best families ever introduced to the show, though.

This was next to The introduction of The Taylors in 2017 one of the most memorable. Isn't it amazing how Kacey Ainsworth (Ex-Little Mo), Suranne Jones (Ex-Karen McDonald Coronation Street) and Jenna Louise Coleman (Ex-Jasmine Emmerdale) are now icons on Granchester, Gentleman Jack and Victoria. They remind me of Julianne Moore who besides being the Second Hostess after Laura Linney of Masterpiece Theater also made her bones on Soaps most notably on As The World Turns from 1983-1986 where she played Sisters/Cousins Frannie Hughes & Sabrina Fullterton. She even came back in 2010 before it got cancelled.

God, so much has happened since then. It's amazing how Kacey Ainsworth is now on Granchester and her Daughter is played by Simone Lahbib's Daughter Skye.

I actually remember this episode. Someone's funeral was the same day they moved in (I think it was Ethel Skinner's) and people in the square were mad Charlie's taxi or the van blocked the glass carriage that had the body getting by.

Damn this takes me back! I was a young 20 year old just starting out in life... 20 years of lifetime past but Yet watching this now it seems like it was yesterday **sigh**

I just finished watching Eastenders and this was in my recommended, HOW DID THEY KNOW

I wasn't keen on this era as The Slaters tended to hog every single storyline for a good few years. The Mitchell and Jacksons before them never did this they were still part of a good emsemble cast hence why the nineties will always be the best era of Eastenders in my eyes.

I just realized that none of The Slaters lived on their own. Even now Kat & Big Mo never had their own Independence. I think that Kacey Ainsworth (Ex-Little Mo), Joanne Froggatt (Coronation Street) and Suranne Jones (Coronation Street) have really taken UK Viewing by storm and many US Fans watch them on PBS and HBO.

I would be so cool next year that when EastEnders Celebrates 35 Years, they do a "Special" Tribute to The Slaters. So much has happened to them. By the way what happened to Belinda. Isn't it amazing to know that after all of these years, Ian still has issues with The Slaters.

What's so eerie is that The US Soap Opera Guiding Light was cancelled on September 18 2009. Crystal Chappel who played Olivia Spencer talked about her Webseries Venice and The BBC's Website Crashed because so many Fans watched The Love Story between Olivia & Natalia. F/X almost wanted to do a US Version of Bad Girls but they couldn't agree on rights and stuff. A lot of Fans wanted her to play The US Helen Stewart.

God it was a mass of new characters at once wasnt it? And yet, they worked a treat straight away.

I realized that in The UK A Whole New "Family" come in at the same time. In The US they bring in One Character and if they are liked then they bring in a Family. When Terry Lester Debuted as Jack Abbott #1 on The Young & The Restless his Family came in slowly. Now they are next To The Newmans The Two Longest Running Family who are like the Capulets and Montagues of Genoa City. Also it's going to be kind of sad when Laila Morse (Big Mo) leaves. My God, how much things have changed in 20 years and this September Rudolph Walker will celebrate 20 Years as Patrick Trueman.

I remember this quite well, though for me, it was maybe 2007-2008 when these episodes aired here in my country. We were far behind in stotylines as you can imagine. Unfortunately, Eastenders doesn't air in my area anymore. I think the Slater family was my favorite. Does anyone know who's house they took over? If there was anyone living in #23 before them, that is.

I discovered Eastenders when they played it on a PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) on a Detroit Channel. I was hooked although it was 10 years behind. Now I watch it on a Ethnic Channel focusing on The Indian Community although they are Nine Months behind. I am at the Storyline where Bobby "Hits" Dennis. Then I got on a Whim "Slaters In Detention". Charlie would turn over in his grave if he saw how bad they fell.

I would have loved for Pat to go to Genoa City, WI and hang out with Mrs. Chancellor. That would have been smashing. Now Janine is back in town. I would have loved for Erika Slezak who played Viki on One Life To Live from 1971 until it's cancellation until 2011 who won Seven Daytime Emmys America's Highest TV Honor. She would have been brilliant as a Distant Relative of Frank.

If you can, check out the Feud with Viki/Dorian on One Life To Live (US) 1968-2011. Viki continuously blamed Dorian for her Father Victor Lord's Death but it wasn't until she did some hypnotism did she realize "she" did it. She suffered from Multiple Personality Disorder, and Repressed Memory Syndrome. Also Dorian as Town Mayor was so supportive of Gay Rights she married a Woman although she's straight just to prove a point.
