I have 3 of sensors, the most recent since 2019 and was very pleased with them. However, since the latest app update for Android, the app and the device are useless. I can no longer read the charge state or the battery data. The sensor is completely useless now. If your phone is Android please don't buy these unless the vendor can show that the app works. ( It seems to still work with IOS ).

Also, why is it important to enter the Ah capacity of the battery in the App? This unit only registers voltage which can be related to the State Of Charge (SOC) of the battery and is in no way an indication of the health of the battery. The latter can only be determined by a load and capacity test. I mean if a fully charged AGM battery is 12.9V, it is that whether it is a 10 Ah or 90 Ah battery. If anything, the App would need you to select the type of battery because each of them have slightly different fully charged voltages....FLA, AGM, GEL, Lithium.

How long are the leads from the ring terminals to the unit itself? Jeez, CTEKs specifications seriously need to be improved.

Cool technology but doesnt the unit itself drain the battery over time?

According to an email I received from CTEK, its drain current is 1 mA.

Also, from the furthest part of the home, can it still read the data to the garage.

@@MovieViking I know, but just like I can get a WiFi Extender, why can I not get a Bluetooth Extender. I have looked.

Hi! Are you sure the Battery Sense should be connected to both battery poles? Here's what CTEK website says about the connection of Battery Sense: Q: How should I connect Battery Sense? A: Connect the red positive (+) cable to the battery's positive pole, and the black negative (-) cable to an earthing point on the chassis. Check the vehicle's user manual for information about what is recommended for your vehicle. This is especially important for vehicles with START-STOP system or auxiliary heating. In the video you can clearly see the earthing point on the chassis behind the battery.

Hello! For our vehicle it was difficult to locate an appropriately sized bolt for the earth wire (The earth point behind the battery is very large). As a result we chose to connect directly to the battery. Best to follow their suggestion however!

Thank you for the quick reply. I believe in the new VAG cars [at least the one in the video above] you can use standard M6 nut [10mm socket] to connect the black negative (-) cable of Battery Sense to the bolt that runs through the earthing point on the chassis.

You didnt mention how inaccurate it is. Test with your multimeter to see what I mean.

Measuring with your multimeter is just as inaccurate as the battery mounted in the car is never measured open-ended, but with a small and possibly intermittent load from the car (ie mirrors folding in/out when the key fob is detected by the sensors). For the purpose of identifying decay or strange patterns in the discharge this device is more than capable, though I would prefer a graph and a scale using Volts not percentages.
