After suffering the unbelievable pain of Benzodiazepine withdrawal, this film takes on a whole other meaning for me now.

For such a silly premise the acting in this film is pretty great!

okay, now I don't care much for shitty movies or something but after watching this, I have to say that the writing and puppetry of the 80's is what really gets me. I fucking love it when they use real things instead of CGI. And the dialogue in this movie is fantastic! What a great film.

This is a film I need. I love the symbolism and, admittedly shallow, metaphor. Because it's perfect. Drug addiction really can be like a brainwashing alien. Plus, it seems like a pretty cool horror movie, too.

Either they played a loop on that scream, or the actor playing Brian as got some damn strong lungs.

Kinda the point-- this *whole film* (and Aylmer and his juice) is a metaphor for drug addiction; as someone who has worked with people who were going through withdrawal in the past, I must say that (exaggeration for dramatic effect aside), they got a lot of the details correct.

Addiction goes far deeper than drugs and sometimes the least painful consequences are the most dangerous.

Also, it reminded me a bit of the old "hello my baby, hello my honey..." routine. Actually "Spaceballs" came out one year prior to this.

One of the best most underrated horror movie of the 80s. Great acting, soundtrack, and the voice over artist that does Almer is diabolical

A lot of the old puppets and suits were made out of perishable material, sad truth but they can survive better with care. Someone online has one of the Basket Case puppets, it looks a little beaten up but in great condition considering how old it is.

Always thought it was funny that Alymer had cartoon eyes. But, they were so tiny you could barely see them.

I've yet to see this movie (and I've beeen a BASKET CASE fan since I was 8) but I really regret not buying this the chances I had. I love the monster's voice, heh heh. The scene of him tearing his brain out of his head made me fucking cringe too.

Great film, Boy I remember back in 1989 Cinemax Midnite View I believe. Its was so weird, but good and Inventive and Original. Film was bold and daring. Also when I saw the actor from Basket Case and the infamous Case also in the train whoa heheheh. Great clip and film. Thanks.

I saw that movie when I was e teenager & it really scared the hell out of me. Especially Brian's neuro addiction to the parasite's juice.

Anyone else wonder how much time has passed by the time he's begging? I'm guessing less than a half-hour.

I don't mind Aylmer talking, or moving like a puppet, it adds to his charm, but what kills it is those tiny little cartoon eyes, maybe if he had just one eye that looked kinda Alien-ish or Snake-like, he look more like a talking entity instead. The mere fact that he feels so civilized to talk to reminds me not only of just Little Shop of Horrors like mentioned in the Older comments, but also kinda reminds me of Brain Gremlin from Gremlins 2. It's like it all takes place in the same universe.

This is really hard to watch, really nice for a movie that should probably be stupid

Brian was such a hottie. It's like an 80s horror trope where a really cute guy is enslaved by a monster, like Basket Case.
