Basically, don't even bother playing online unless you're a drift boost expert because everyone uses this tactic. It's impossible to win without knowing how to do it reliably.

Thank you so much for this video and some of your explanations in the comments. I'm a little late to the party, I just got the game yesterday, but I've been trying to practice and perfect drift boosting because I knew just how important the overall mechanic is to being good at the game - especially on harder difficulties. You've explained how you drift boost, and more importantly, how to do so in straight line like all the speed runners so much better than anyone else. Most everyone explains it in the exact same way the game does without telling you what to do with the d-pad/analog stick while in a drift and how to avoid just boosting into a wall. Thank you for this video!

We can never have too many drift basics videos!!!! I'm still learning the layouts of the tracks and I'm fiddling around with the turn class until I get more comfortable. I like to hand my mom a Switch joycon and we run around the tracks like clumsy noobs!!! And she mains Ripper Roo!!!

Ripper roo is my favorite villain 😬 If I may suggest, you might want to try using Acceleration instead of Turn. Turn is harder in some cases because it turns too much during drift

@@TheViperian I've been playing as Coco too!!! As I'm getting more familiar with the tracks, I'm finding her slightly more suitable. Sometimes Pura's overall speed doesn't seem worth it and I switch to Coco instead. I just unlocked Nina as well, and I must try her with the accel style....

@@snailgirl6 yea! Use acceleration is better in my opinion. Turn is somewhat harder to use for me because of how slow & difficult it is to drift on straight lines 😬

I played the original Ctr a lot in my childhood and had to practice a bit more on this version. There are some differences, for example when you jump into drift mode, that little action takes longer time in Nitro Fueled than in the original. It's a matter of just a few parts of a second, of course not much but still enough to make me fail the drift sometimes.

You can look at the wheels it will glow telling you it’s time to boost or when u see black smoke come out of the exhaust so u have three options choose what u find fit

For me is way better to use the classic meter cuz it goes from the right to the left, is easier to see even when you're looking at your character. The Nitro F. Meter goes the opposite side, for me is worse because you have to look at the meter to know when it turns red.

PS1 CTR is easier, i just got the nitro fueled and its different, more difficult to control

I agree. That is why i think the game has such a brutal difficulty. I mean, even the first PS1 game was hard, but it was hard in a fair way. I dug it, but I still think if someone has the option they should just play the ps1 one,

What I'd like to know is how come when I do the drift boost thing and then I release it by hitting the L1 R1 button it doesn't really do anything it gives you the Boost thing but the car doesn't go any faster it just pops and that's it.

I still feel like in can barely steer my kart when I'm boosting. I can do it around most turns but I'm seeing a lot of tutorials where they're basically boosting through the whole track

I have just managed to finish this level without taking shortcuts using the girl character with full acceleration, the key is to get each box on the way, it is not easy at all.

secret is to stay calm. You will need to understand tracks as well so you can predict when to start drifting. i suggest playing on roo's tube first. Try drift boosting the ENTIRE 3 laps. Once done, then move to other tracks

Do you race time trials often? And if so what now pretty rank the highest on? Do you have any in the top 10? Also I have been using the D pad nonstop since I watched your video about that and it really has improved a lot. Sometimes it makes taking turns so easy, that I actually feel like I have an unfair advantage

Hi I love your channel it's so helpful. I do have one question, I see a lot of good players they can drift (I'm not sure how to explain because my English is not so good if you pardon me..), they can drift without deflecting, so they can drift in a narrow straight line. I cannot do that because when I drift the car always goes towards deflected directions. (So for me drifting is only easy on the wide straights or turns) Can you tell how to drift in a straight line, thanks so much.

most of them use Speed because it doesnt turn their cart that much when they drift. They basically drift then turn the other direction
