I personally would love to see you make it to old age, of all the people on earth that would deserve it, you're one of the few good ones that would. I wish you all the best, Paul!

Hi Paul. You look great and I'm so glad to hear you are getting these surgeries. My husband (stage 4 CRC) had HIPEC here in San Diego a year and a half ago. A year after his colon resection, cancer appeared in his Peritoneal. He has cytoreduction surgery and then HIPEC (he doesn't have a stoma). His surgery was about 8 hours but he recovered well and the cancer stayed away for 1.5 years. We just learned he has small wets in his lungs (lower lobe). He's ready for whatever comes next. Cancer sucks but he is living life. He has neuropathy in his feet, but still plays tennis and pickleball 5x a week. He won't give it up. Keep living life and smiling Paul. We love you. ❤

Wow. Talk about a turnaround!! The operations you've listed won't be as long or invasive, as I understand it, so it seems bloody well worth it considering what you have to gain. I've been watching your story silently, but wanted to congratulate you on a near 180 from debilitating neuropathy, considering MAID with a terminal diagnosis to a chance at real remission. You're on a hell of a rollercoaster, but looks like you're hanging onto your seat and will make it off the ride.

Yes, Paul!! With stability elsewhere, dealing with the suspicious bits sooner than later, and with likely stoma removal, is brilliant for your overall quality *and quantity* of life. You're already beaming, but understand this is an excellent, remarkable plan to be offered for a possible curative path. I'm so happy to hear your doctor exceeded my optimism, which was already quite high. Re: your rumination on death -- I strongly doubt you'll die during these recommended surgeries (which you won't know if it happens, eh? ha), but as with any surgery, is always a possibility. In your case, you seem low risk compared to when you were operated on before, so try to trust your brilliant professor, the team's skills and the mental/physical strength you've gained going into it. This is an amazing opportunity -- please take it!

It is not the best news to have a recurrence of cancer, but it is to have a surgeon on your side with a treatment plan in place with the possibility of a great outcome and a reversal, which is excellent news. Whatever you do to prepare for the surgery can only be a good thing. Glad you have a reason for happiness and optimism. 💙

Good for you! I had a brain tumor that was supposed to have been 100% removed. Five years later it came back, Gamma Knife has stopped it. I’m just at five years out and had my scan, tumor free! Good things do happen but sometimes a second go at removing things is necessary. A good outlook is very helpful!!

Wow! Paul, I wasn't expecting this wonderful news. Hooray for Prof Morris for wanting to take you back to the OR, get rid of the few remaining tumors, do HIPEC again, and reverse your stoma. While all of this is absolutely daunting, it may be your chance at having a long and happy, functioning life again. I would say it's worth the risk. You're in so much better physical and mental shape this time around for surgery. The last time around was extremely traumatic for you. I'm hoping this time will be much, much better. I'm sooooo amazingly happy for you! Excellent! You made my day Paul! I am currently having the proton radiation therapy for my brain and spine. My prognosis is now 7-8 months, but I am holding onto hope just like you. I'm trying to get to my birthday in November, then Christmas, then my daughters birthday in January, then my sons birthday in March, my husbands birthday in April and my wedding anniversary in May. We can do this. You go guy! Give Caroline a big hug and high five from me too! Love and hugs!

Oh Paul, I'm so excited for you, the turn around is amazing, from a few months ago where you were quite adamant that you would not elect to have any more surgery and were considering end of life measures, to now where you smiling about having surgery and really excited about your future, Prof Morris is so definately your hero you can see it in your face when you mention him, I love how your preparing yourself for the surgey to give yourself the best possible outcome for healing. Dear Paul! Oh this smile of yours is infectuous! Love it! It's amazing to me, how people who hardly know each other, can connect and care about another's faith, as I've come to care about yours. How the neuropathy from MS and RA (me) can some communalities with you and the cancer you've had. And it's residual that might be completely gone soon, while/as you regain your health! Our humanity I believe, is what does that. How this 62 years young woman from Montréal, Québec, Canada, living in Central Texas, USA may communicate back and forth, with someone from Australia, at this time of life, sending both prayers and good thoughts and vibes to you and your beloved, is amazing to me. My brother in law and his wife live in Australia now (he from Texas, her from the UK), yet we haven't had a chance to visit thus far. This is the best news EVER! I don't believe Prof Morris would uptake such a task if he wasn't confident about it. I am looking forward to all of us supporting each other through our old age. Hi Michelle, they need the business analysis work done now, so I will miss that job. However, that project wraps up in December, so (as usual) there will be a tonne of work left to the last minute, so there will be something for me to do once I am well enough to work. I'll be fine. Paul.

Paul, I had throat & neck cancer 2001.. I tapered off my pain meds that I took 3 times a day for 23 yrs...I am no longer taking pain meds.. It took me 2 mths.. Good luck with kicking your habit. It's a good idea to prepare your body B4 those surgeries ..

Fantastic news, Paul. I'm so very excited for this path your body is now set for. I certainly understand the titration of meds. With my oral cancer that comes back and thus another surgery where no oral, non-liquid meds can be taken for awhile, I've learned to titrate off those meds that don't come in liquid form where I can sip in hospital.
