Pat Huges and Ron Coomer (Local Chicago WSCR 670 The Score) call the last 3 outs of the World Series.
8:50 last at bat for the Indians final Out.
Pat Huges is The is the first Chicago radio broadcaster EVER to say "The Chicago Cubs win the World Series" (no cubs radio broadcasts in 1908)
Fox originally broadcast this in native 720p 60fps.. Then edited/rendered in the best quality possible before uploaded to KZfaq. KZfaq compresses the quality once uploaded so I made sure I rendered it to the absolute best before I uploaded it.

The really sucky part is that after it did happen I got all cocky and figured we'd be well on our way to stacking multiple championships by now. Then 2017 happened, and our still great team had a hangover and stumbled a bit. That wouldn't even be so bad if the Dodgers weren't so scary good this year.

I'm 39 years old, and my mom started taking me to Cubs games when I was about 9 years old. We'd hop on the CTA bus, get off at Clark and Addison, sit in the bleachers, and watch guys like Sandberg, Dawson, Grace, Maddux. Sadly, my mom passed away in 2011 and all I could think of when they finally won it was how I wished she could have been here to see this. Thanks Mom, and this one is for you.

Posting 12-13-22. I'm an unrepentant Yankee fan myself, but game 7 of the 2016 WS was the happiest I've ever been over ANY game, in ANY sport. Hope the Yanks at least reach the World Series next year. I remember the start they got off to this year, and for a while there, they were on a pace to win about 118 games. I'm 59, and the best Yankee season in my memory was 1998. Too bad they can't clone sports seasons.

Changes like that can have a huge influence on how the game goes. Cleveland could have blown them out in Wrigley. I'm happy it happened this way. Would it have been cool if it was in Chicago? Yes, but what is important is that it happened. Go Cubs Go!

This was one of the most bittersweet moments of my life. My dad passed away many, many years ago and while my grandpa was alive at the time (he has since passed) he was in a nursing home with a very advanced stage of Alzheimer's and so wasn't cognizant of what happened, which is almost worse than being dead. To me this World Series is for all of the millions and millions of die hard Cubs fans who never got to see this happen. We the living are just lucky.

as a tigers fan, i found more joy in watching the cubs win then if the tigers had it won it 2006, or 2012, or 2013, i digress, we blew it, but goddamn, that was amazing to see. even down 3-1 i look at lester/arrietta/hendricks and the path to victory was still there. thats the only way the cubs could have won, down 3-1. just like the sox in 04, down 0-3, it HAD to be that impossible, no chance they do it, type of way, theres no way that was coming easy 108 years in the waiting. it had to be that way.

Yes , but one of the most disliked guys in baseball. He was almost universally disliked by other players not on the Cubs.....and sportswriters. That's why he had such a tough time getting in the hall.

Saw my first Cub game at the yard in 1957. Saw Larry Jackson, Dick Bertel, Jim Hickman, Don Kessigner, and more. I attended the 23-22 game in May of 1979....that gorgeous afternoon against the Phillies. At 19 yrs old, I was one of the original "Bleacher Bums" in left field in the late 60's . We'd head across the street to Ray's Bleachers (Now Murphy's Bleachers and a yuppie bar) after games. We all had fake ID's and nobody paid any attention. I even saw the Chicago Bears play in Wrigley. Then I actually attended Game 4 in Wrigley which was a dream come true. But THIS....THIS was the highlight of it all. Greatest day ever !!!

Pat Hughes's call of this astounding moment will live in famy. Thank you for syncing a wonderful radio announcer's call with the TV feed. For this middle-aged Cubs fan, this moment will be on my mind until my dying breath. Baseball is the most philosophical of sports, and the Chicago Cubs are the most philosophical of baseball teams [along with all the others].

When I watched the Pennant Raising at Wrigley Field the following Spring I saw a sign in the Bleachers that said it all about our win in the World Series. "Who would have thought 17 minutes of rain would wash away 108 years of Drought." I will never forget the sign and the absolute truth behind what it said, I am still amazed by the journey the Cubs went on starting after the playoff loss to the Dodgers in 2015. That team showed it had the heart and drive. In 2016 they came out of the gate and didn't ever look back hyper focused on the prize for the entire season, the best record in Baseball that year and running through the Playoffs like a harvester in a corn field. Then through the ups and downs of the World Series being down 3-1 and coming all the way back to not only force a Game 7 but to win it as well. I will always remember the year 2016 and the Cubs winning it all, I hope to see another one before my time here is done. GO CUBS GO!!!

No matter how many times I watch the video of this win, it always brings tears to my eyes. Pat Hughes said it best at the end of this clip - Cubs fans all over celebrated and immediately thought of our friends and family members who never got to see the Cubs win a World Series. I can tell you that in the 7+ years since this night, if you wander any cemetery in the Chicagoland area to this day you’re bound to see at least one World championship souvenir laying next to a headstone so that the deceased could celebrate too. I went to Harry Caray’s grave the week after this night and it was COVERED with stuff - flags, posters, baseballs, and green apples in reference to his famous quote about the eventuality of the Cubs finally winning it all. I haven’t been back, but I’ll bet green apples still adorn it from time to time…

Born and raised in Detroit. Life took me to Illinois in the mid 00s. Saw the passion for the Cubbies first hand. The people that became my in-laws made me realize the Cubbies were my adopted squad. When they won, it hit me heavy. Love to everyone that loves a good sports story! (Chuckles methodically knowing the state of Ohio lost)
